First off you will need to do a little bit of trouble shooting. Is the source (dvd, Blu-ray, cable box, etc...) plugged into the receiver with the standard red and white RCA cord or by an optical (toslink-fiber optic) or digital RCA (orange color code). If you are connected with a standard RCA cord then that it your problem and you need buy digital cord that both the source device and the receiver can accept (toslink - http://www.we-supply.com/browse.cfm/optical:-audio/2,779.html or Digital RCA). If the connection is now correct then you need to make your receiver do a "test-tone" to insure that a signal can be sent to every speaker (this is an internal test that just checks the speaker connections). If the tone tone operates correctly then you know the amplifier is functioning. If both of the mentioned things are now done and still not surround output then you need to check the internal menus on your source device and make sure that it does not require you to manual change a setting in the audio menu to make it work (i.e. change from 2-ch 44KHz to 5.1 or 7.1 or Dolby Digital or AC3 or some other surround sound protocol.)

SOURCE: I HAVE AN ONKYO TX

The symptom you described can be caused by any number of things. I always start with the output power transistors which are the first things to blow with a speaker output overload condition. Unplug the power cord to your unit, remove the top cover and use an ohmmeter to check resistance from C to E on all 10 of the power transistors (Q6050 thru 54 and Q6060 thru 64) attached to the large heat sink. Blown transistors typically read <1 ohm, compared to good transistors that are >10k ohms. If you find a bad transistor it will need to be replaced.

SOURCE: Dear Sirs, I have

Did you remember to remove the shorting link on the MA BR5 speaker terminal ..When you biwire the speakers you should remember to loosen the speaker terminal nuts and remove the shorting link plate between the HF and the LF terminals or you will short the amplifiers two channels together through the link. And modern amplifiers will take a lot of abuse at low volumes but at high volumes the protection circuit will turn off the device.

SOURCE: In regard to my Marantz

have the same model. just got it to work. but, struggling with one part. here's the scoop. 1. Plug your second zone speakers into the SURR BACK/AMP ASSIGN speaker outputs on the unit. 2. You need to "amp assign" the speakers to zone 2 by pressing AMP, MENU, select SPEAKER SETUP, AMP ASSIGN and scroll to ZONE 2 - this will force the sound to the speakers that you plugged in. 3 - Turn on Zone 2 (press Z2, press ON button on remote). Use the UP/DOWN arrows to select the input for Zone 2. I've only been successful in selecting USB and plugging my iphone in for zone 2. For some reason, I cannot get the SAT (cable box) to play in both zone 1 and zone 2 at the same time. But, I can get SAT in zone 1 and USB in zone 2. Hope that helps. Let me know if you can solve my issue...

Hi There, I have a Marantz SR7005 Receiver and Bose 901 Series VI speakers with the Bose equalizer. I'm struggling to figure out the best way to connect the Bose equalizer/speakers to the SR7005. ...

It sounds like you've read one of my many posts on 901 deployment in the AV world.

Functionally, what is the difference between one amp with 'x' channels or 'x' mono amps? Nothing. Pre-outs don't know or care what else an external amp does.

According to this link http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/products/new/642968.html those amps are 2- and 5-channel, respectively.

There was a time when I had two bridged-mono Carver Cube atmps (at a real 400 watts) pushing one 901 each but that was big time overkill.

I now use a Carver AV-406 (functionally the same as your MM7055) with the 901 EQ in between the AV Receiver's front pre-outs and two 110-watt channels. Other channels on the AV-406 pull subwoofer and surround back duties. My AVR directly powers only the center and surround speakers.

The MM7025 would work for you.

Will the Marantz SR5004 work with the 901?

By itself, yes, in stereo for stereo analog source material only.

There's good news and bad news for the multichannel hopes you must be harboring.

The bad news is that a multichannel receiver with Bose 901's will only sound right in STEREO on stereo analog material. For one thing, the other speakers around the room are not designed to receive its Active Equalization (unless they, too, are 901's of the same version) and for another, if you engage your Tape Monitor you will not be able to play digital sources. Tape Monitor is for analog stereo material only and on most (all?) AV receivers it disables any digital inputs.

The good news. I have a 7.1 setup similar to what I think you're trying to do and it works great!

A separate stereo amp for the 901's was my solution. I run a Carver AV-406 (5-channel amp) for my 901's in Front, 2 Subwoofers and the Rear Surround channel, with the Active EQ between the receiver Front L&R Outputs and the 901's amp channels. My receiver controls everything and just drives the Center and Surround speakers. You could get by with just a stereo amp for the 901's. A Carver M-200 is a good efficient amplifier that would have you cooking just fine (2x100W). Just draw the Front L and R analog pre-out from the Marantz to the Bose Active Equalizer then to the new amp. Adjust your speaker levels and enjoy.
