I think this write protection error is due to some virus.
Steps to remove write protection for Transcend users
1) Go to download center of the transcend,here is the link
http://www.transcendusa.com/Support/DLCenter
Type the model no. or part of model number you are looking for.
example: JFV30(all alphabets in Caps )
2) Choose other details like product type etc. and search for your product
3)Then select the product which which is most similar to yours from search results
4)Then download the JetFlash Recovery Tool.zip utility. You will asked for serial no. if you dont have..enter this no. 1456784523
5) Connect your pen drive
6) run the JetFlash Recovery Tool.zip utility and select full format after full format
your write protection will be removed. try twice or thrice if you can't
correct at first time.

Just to be an altenative solution,
-run "regedit" command
-find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/Control/StorageDevicePolicies/
-Double click at "Write Protect"
-Change the value to "0"
-------------------------------------------------------------
-If you cant find "StorageDevicePoicies" under .../Control/
,create it with the name above (also create "Write Protect")

Hi, Pls post back brand/model of your pendrive. In the mean time maybe you can try the HP Drive Key Boot Utility which works for most if not all brands of flashdrives. I had the same problem with an old 64MB jump drive. I did some hunting around on HWA as well as Googling other forums. The general agreement seemed to be that the drive was simply dead. I tried changing all the permissions, attrib in CMD, and even logging into Linux as "root" (the equivilent of Microsoft's "Administrator") to no avail. I was able to back the files up to another drive, and they regained their permission settings, but from what I read, the drive was simply dead.

Sir, i bought a Transcend JetFlash 2GB at the shop the other day.
it worked fine, added files, deleting files.. and then moments later it gives the the msg
"Remove the write-protection or use another disk"
i looked all over the stick to see if there was a switch but i cant find it..
i tried to format but it does not allow me to as it is under write protect.
the reason for it to happen is, i think is cause i pulled it out with out doing the safety removal method but yeah.

I have a new and never used Emprex 256M storage pen that I cannot write to or format. My system tells me it's write protected and I dont understand why.
