Just got done fixing our Heritage II model 2HD, it had a dirty safety switch. Both the hose attachment and the roller housing depress a plunger to close the switch, thus sending AC to the motor brushes. You might want to try pushing this in and out repeatedly with your thumb, power removed of course, in an attempt to make better contact. If this works to restore power to the motor, it'll be just a short time before the problem repeats itself. You'll have to remove the switch to give it a thorough cleaning. I didn't have any contact cleaner handy, so I wound up using WD40. Hope this helps. Kevin H.

SOURCE: how do you put on the attachment hose?

The Heritage II Legend...First you make sure that the machine is unplugged from any outlet,. Now, raise your height adjust to the highest level. Next you will need to turn your belt lifter on the front of the nozzel to the right as far as you can. Now flip the hinged light cover up, and turn the latch that holds down the head to the left. Your nozzle is now released. Now take the hose and roll it on to the bar from the front to the back, make sure it is aligned and then turn the latch to the right locking the hose, and you are ready to kirby it up! Hope this fixesya! Let me know, Thanks, Rene (the Vacuum Doctor)

Kirby g10d, I shampooded the carpet then put it back together and it wont start 4/12 yrs old used approximately 50 times. Any ideas?

Make sure the emptor at the. Bottom of the bag assembly is turned all the way clockwise. It pushes in on lever on the switch. It won't run if the lever is not pushed all the way.

I would take it in to a vacuum service center. I had a similar issue and they restored the Kirby back to new for $100, it's been running fine now for 2 years!

Hi, I am looking for some where to get my Kirby Legend 11 vacuum cleaner serviced and probably a new brush head for it thanks.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. In most cities there are factory authorizes Kirby Vacuum dealers that also do service in most of the big cities other wise there are your local vacuum cleaner dealers in your area that also do service on the Kirby vacuums. When referring to the brush head are you asking for the bell housing or the brushroll. The brushrolls are very available @ either dealer but the bell housing that the brushroll fits into you probably will need to get that from the factory or the local vac dealers may have a good used one for less money or ½ the cost of a new one. Just a suggestion for you. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Legend 11 Kirby, sometimes will not turn on

Could have a problem with the motor, may need carbon brushes, or other motor related parts. If the light turns on and off with the switch, then the switch is probably ok. There is a speed switch inside the motor casing that could be bad.
