Maytag Neptune MAH4000AWW will not drain all the water out.

At the end of the wash cycle there is a large amount of water left in the tub. I can hear water being pumped out during the normal wash cycle. Any ideas, I'm thinking the timer?

If you are saying that after the washer has finished you are left with wet cloths and water left standing in the tub ,then your pump is broken or as was my case I opened the back and removed the pump only to find a small piece of wicker that had come off my laundry basket . It was keeping the pump from turning .I removed it put everything back in place and saved over $380.00 . I hope this helps good luck .

The First comment here was absolutely right! Thanks! save a lot of $$$. In my case there was a piece of rubber that was keeping the propeler of the pump motor from spining, that's why the water won't drain.

Just experienced this myself. I have the 4000 series from 1999 and it has two water pumps that remove water from the washer. Inside the rubber hose, there is a small plastic filter that was plugged from water calcification over the years. The main hose was clear other than that. It is tough to get parts for these older washers so I removed the filter completely and now everything works great.

My maytag neptune spins water out, the tub is empty but when you turn the tub manually you can hear water sloshing and the clothes smells moldy after washing

There will always be some residual water left in the outer tub after draining. This is normal for most washers. Purchase a container of Oxy-clean and cycle the washer a few times using hot water settings with a half-cup of Oxy-clean added to each cycle. This will help remove any organic matter left behind that might be causing odors.

Why isn't the maytag neptune draining? when you spin the barrel you can hear water?

if you do not see water in the tube and the clothes have spun out enough to go into the dryer when the washer cycle finishes the washer has drained out all of the water the water you hear in the tub when the door is open and you spin the tub with your hand that liquid is in the sealed balance ring , that is a sealed channel around the front of the tub to help the machine stay balanced it does not come out

Maytag Neptune Front Load Washer Model MAH4000AWW low last spin

two problems here,
your shaft seal is running on its last leg
the sound is unmistakeable and always described the same...
the water issue, you probably have a trickle leak through the cold water valve
the mixing valve is quite an easy repair, but I would have to say with all honesty, it probably time for a new machine
the hub seal is a tub replacment call
2 hrs of labor if hes good
and the tub runs around 500.00 dollars
sory for the bad news

WATER STANDING IN THE DRUM AFTER WASH CYCLE

can you see water in the tub, or do you hear water when you turn the tub? if you hear water when the tub turns, it is not water. the stainless drum has a liquid inside it for balancing loads. if this is the case, there is no problem. but if you see water in the tub that didnt drain, you need to check the pump and the hose from the pump to the outer tub. look for restrictions (coins, tooth pick, nail, ect.). also check the pump impellers to make sure none of them are broke, there are three plastic impellers. if any are broke, replace the pump. hope this helps you. let me know if you have any further questions. shane

I HAVE A MAYTAG NEPTUNE WASHER, MODEL NO. MAH4000AWW. WASHER WILL NOT SPIN OUT. WATER STAYS IN TUB. I DON'T KNOW WHICH PART NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED, COULD IT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CONTROL BOARD?

It is the drain pump and motor assembly that does not remove the water from the tub. Althought it spins, water is not sucked out of the tub. Try replacing the drain pump and motor assembly. Part no. 22003059.

I did and my washer works well now.
