I bought a HDTV and I have Time Warner cable. I have by red, blue, & green cable hooked up from my cable box directly into the TV and also my red, & white cable from the cable box to the tv and I get a picture. I need to know how to hook up up DVD AHS recorder MWD 2206 to play tape and dvd's. When I hook up the cables from the tv and hook them up to the VCR I get no picture nothing at all how do I hook these all up together to get everything to play. I have my red, white, and yellow cables hooked up from the tv to the vcr and still nothing happens The brand of tv I bought is OLEVIA or can bee found at www.olevia.com brand 232. Thanks
It sounds like your cables are connceted ok, but what you neede to do is to be able the switch from one video mode to the other so lets go through the cable and vrc conncetions again just to make sure.
From your cable set top box connect your component video (RGB) video out to your TV (RGB) video in via the (RGB)cables.
From your VCR connect your composite video (yellow) out to your TV composite video in withe the composite video (yellow) cable.
From your VCR (Left & Right audio out)connect your left and right audio connections (White and Red) to the Audio in of the TV (Left and Right).
Whith this setup you should be able to use the TV to switch between the two A/V inputs using the remote control.

Not knowing what components you have makes it difficult to assist you. As a general note, HDMI provides the best connection for video and audio.
HOWEVER, the HDMI source can talk through the cable to the connected device. A cable box, seeing that something other than a TV is connected to it, will turn off the signal rendering the connected device useless.
To get around the problem, cable the devices together using component video and audio cables (5 cables are required). They are typically colored red and white for audio and green, blue and red for video.
Sounds as if you hooked up your player wrong. If you are using a composite hook up. You should have a yellow, red and white cable. Make sure it gets hooked into the same on the TV. If it is a component connection, then RED, Green and Blue. It sounds like you have your Yellow composite going through your Green component. If by chance your TV is a new Sony, then you might have to go into the user menu and turn component off and composite on.
If your Direct TV box is HDTV compatible then the best connection would be HDMI, and Componant Cables (Red, Green, Blue, w/Red, White) would be the second choice.
If your Direct TV box is not HDTV compatible only SD compatible, the best connection would be S-Video (S-Video cable with audio cables), Composite Video (Yellow, w/Red, White), or Coax cable.
All of the above cables can be purchased at your local Radio Shack, Best Buy, Walmart etc..
I have posted a tip that should help you out with your problem follow the link below but there is one minor variation for connecting to your TV.
On step 3 of the connections section substitute the follow for your situation.
You will need 1 component cable (Red/Blue/Green/Red/White cable)
3) Connect the Green/Blue/Red connectors to the back of the DVR labeled "COMPONENT OUT" matching the colors. Connect the same ends to the input of the back of the TV again matching the colors.
4) Connect the last two connectors (Red/White) to the back of the DVR to the AUDIO IN on the TV.
hey I think you need to use component cables blue green red from the player to the tv, make sure the blue green red ports are also on the tv, note: red yellow white composite cable will not interchange with blue green red component cable or connection.
simplify- blue green red= component red white yellow=composite
*wires must match colors on both tv and player inputs.
then set your input on your tv to where you conected the cable.
I would just hook up the dvd/vhs player with the red, white, yellow rca cables that should of come with your unit and just go to the input on the tv to watch your dvd/vhs player. This will give you a better picture and sound while allowing you not to have to watch dvd/vhs on a channel which helps make the dvd/vhs player independent. Also if possible I would hook the converter box up with the red, white, yellow rca cables to the tv as well if your tv has more than one set of red, white, yellow plugs since it is a better connection that coax and you probably watch more tv than vhs/dvd anyway. So bottom line try to hook up both boxes red, white, yellow and watch each box on different inputs instead of like channel 3 or 4. Also to record of converter box you can run coax from converter box to dvd/vhs combo and make sure your dvd/vhs player is on tuner input or channel 3.
