Web pages won't load, but internet connection is fine.

I open an internet explorer window (Originally had 7, have 8 now more on that later) and get a cannot display page due to my internet connection being disconnected, or some other random settings being changed. I have done the reset, as well as downloaded IE8 (used a memory stick to get the download program from my laptop). IE8 installed fine, but my webpages still will not display. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling and nothing. I can check my e-mail through an outside program, log into non-browser based games. Does anyone have a suggestion, or is my machine destined to cost me a fortune?

For Internet Explorer:
Method 1:
The first technique implies disabling Enhanced Protected Mode feature. This is a new feature available in Internet Explorer 10. If you handicap this feature on your system it will trade-off the security a bit but it improves the browsing history. Let us try the first method -
Step - 1
First, open the Internet Explorer.
Then find the gear icon which is located at the top right corner of the Internet Explorer window.
Click on the gear Icon & and you get a drop down menu
On that drop down menu click on the option that says "Internet options."

Step - 2
After clicking on the "Internet Option" option you will land in a separate window.
On that window, you will find the tab called "Advanced" click on that.
Step - 3
Scroll down through "Advanced" tab menu & find the checkbox with the option Enable Enhanced Protected Mode. You will find that box is checked you will have to uncheck that checkbox.
After that hit apply button & then OK button.

Check the Proxy settings in the LAN Connection area.

Here is a document which provides information on the Proxy Settings. You should have NOTHING in the proxy settings. I suspect that you have something that is wrong.

A blank Web page is displayed when you start Internet Explorer 7.

Symptom:
loadTOCNode(1, 'symptoms'); When you start Windows Internet Explorer 7, your home page does not open. Instead, a blank Web page is displayed.

Additionally, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
Line 56
Char:2
Error: Element not found
Code: 0
URL:http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2aspx

This problem typically occurs after you install Internet Explorer 7, after you install Windows, or after you reset Internet Explorer settings. This problem may occur only for certain users.

To have us fix this problem for you, go to the “Fix it for me” section. If you would rather fix this problem yourself, go to the “Let me fix it myself” section.
Cause:
This problem occurs if the Customize Your Settings Web page in Internet Explorer 7 is not loaded correctly or if the Customize Your Settings Web page opens with restricted security settings.
Fix it for me
To fix this problem automatically, click the Fix this problem link. Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in this wizard.
Fix this problem
Microsoft Fix it 50065
Note: This wizard is temporarily in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.

Note: If you are not on the computer that has the problem, you can save the automatic fix to a flash drive or to a CD, and then you can run it on the computer that has the problem.
Let me fix it myself
To resolve this problem, create and run a Skiprunonce.reg file for each user account that experiences the problem. If you would rather modify the registry directly, see the "Advanced users" section.

To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start a text editor, such as Notepad.
  2. Copy the following information, paste it into the text editor, and then save the file as Skiprunonce.reg:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]

    "RunOnceHasShown"=dword:00000001

    "RunOnceComplete"=dword:00000001

  3. Exit the text editor.
  4. Double-click the Skiprunonce.reg file that you created in step 2.

When you run the Skiprunonce.reg file, you will receive the following message:
Are you sure you want to add the information in path of .reg file to the registry?
Click Yes. Then you will receive the following message:
Information in path of .reg file has been successfully entered into the registry.
Notes:
  • In Windows Vista, when non-administrator users try to run SkipRunOnce.reg they are prompted for an administrator password.
  • To run SkipRunOnce.reg for all users at the same time, modify SkipRunOnce.reg by replacing [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] with [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] and then running it as an administrator.

When i try to open facebook said problem in loading page .but i can open other browser.

If you have older browsers like Internet Explorer 6 or 7 - they will quite often show errors while opening. You can try to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 (for Windows XP) or Internet Explorer 9 (Windows Vista and Windows 7).
Opera browser strictly follow standards and sometimes doesn't support non-standard web applications.
Therefore I would recommend to use either Google Chrome or Firefox 4 as your default browser. As for the above mentioned browsers - Opera and Internet Explorer there are no easy solutions for now.

When using my D-Link-655 router, I can't access some Web sites, but I can access others. This applies to all computers on my network. I can, for example, access my work (company internal) websites and use...

Have you isolated the problem by directly plugging your computer directly to your modem, bypassing your router? If you have done this but still cannot browse some websites, then this is a DNS problem with your Internet Provider. Try using Open DNS, 208.67.220.220 as Primary and 208.67.222.222 as secondary. Then try to browse again. But if you have plugged directly to the modem and was able to access those websites, then there is a restriction on your router and you may need to press and hold the reset button to reset it back to factory defaults.

Do a google search for "google chrome"
If that runs slow you know its the PC, if it runs fine then you know its Internet explorer.
I no longer use internet explorer because it it so slow but i remember there was a setting which would scan web-pages for phishing threats.
Im not sure if its called that or if they have changed over to the smartscreen filter.

While loading/viewing a web-page, using Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 7, under Windows Vista (4=WindowsNT, 5=Windows2000, 7=Windows7), it "crashed".

Try the same web-page from another computer also running Vista and IE7. If it works, then something on your computer is the problem.

Restart your computer, and try again to access the same web-page.
If you get the same problem, upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, and try again.
If you still get the same problem, contact the author of the web-page, and get them to investigate.
