Emachines t3516a memory upgrade

The eMachines T3516 uses an Intel D101GGC motherboard,

http://www.ascendtech.us/intel-d101ggc-lga775-800fsb-motherboard_i_mb4intd101ggc.aspx

Two Ram Memory slots.
Maximum Amount for EACH ram memory slot is 1GB.
Maximum TOTAL Amount for the motherboard is 2GB.

Ram Memory used is DDR Sdram at 333MegaHertz, or 400MHz.
That is PC-2700 and PC-3200 respectively.

Uses Non-ECC, low density, Unbuffered, CAS Latency of 2.5, and 2.5 Volt.

Will pc2-5300 memory work in emachines t5082?

Yes it will work

Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 2GB
Slots: 2
Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

Trying to upgrade t5082 emachines from 1/2 to to 2g. the only way it will boot is if I leave the 1/2g in slot one & put one of the 2g in slot 2. Is there a way to make slot 1 read the 2g?

Your motherboard has a 1GB limit per slot so the 2 GB sticks are simply not recognized. Take them back and replace them with a 2x1GB set if you still want to upgrade the RAM.

I have an emachines t5082 and tried installing 2GB (2x1GB) they are a 2-pack, DDR2 6400's The board sees 1GB but when I put both in it won't even give me a boot screen or anything, just a black screen. Is...

eMachines recommends DDR2 at 533MHz.
(PC2-4200)

A lot of ram memory manufacturers, state you can use DDR2 at 667MHz. (PC2-5300)

This is a logical statement due to the fact that a lot of motherboard chipsets, (Northbridge chip specifically),
will allow ONE step up in ram memory frequency rate.

You are going Two steps up.
Who told you this would work?
This is erroneous.
(Mean that in a nice sort of way)

PC 6400 is DDR2 at 800MHz.

Your eMachines T5082 motherboard uses an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 motherboard chipset.

This chipset will only support DDR2 at 667MHz at best.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xpress_200

Suggest you send that ram back, and get PC2-5300.

You can use the intel processor compatibility tool here. You first need to take note of the motherboard's exact model number to find an exact match.

The model number is printed on a sticker on the board near RAM slots (typical, but may also be elsewhere).

As for the manual, the e-machines has the following information on this site. Drivers can be found here.

D102GGC2 Mobo MDM & NetWk chip problem

This is the link to the manufacturer's website and the Vista drivers for that model.

http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T5082

The network is a Realtek 8139, which Vista should automatically install, but using the manufacturer's recommended drivers might be the best thing.

The T-5082 does have a few expansion slots for a new modem or network card.
