My compaq presario c500 doesn't respond to the start button

The computer is a little over a year old and has been working perfectly until this morning. This morning when I push the power button all that happens is the lightning bolt battery indicator flashes a couple of times. The battery was fully charged last night and it acts the same when the battery charge cord is plugged in. It was shut down correctly last night so it isn't ''sleeping''. Does this mean I need a new battery?

    Hi: On a hunch, I crawled down under my desk to make sure the power cord between the computer and the wall receptacle hadn't separated. Lo and behold, that's exactly what had happened so the battery was dead. I plugged it all back together and now the computer is working like normal. I must have bumped it with my foot to get it to separate like that. Thank you for your prompt and helpful response to my cry for assistance.

Try to turn on the laptop without the battery and only the power cord plug in.

if your laptop works with this you need new battery or update bios ( there might be fix for battery monitor)

if not, call service support, might be motherboard issue

let me know an update

Computer is probably too old to recognize an SSD. You may be able to find a firmware upgrade. Did you boot into the BIOS and try and find the SSD?

Fast Blinking Power Button

Check your RAM. I had the same problem with my C500. I ended up having a bad stick of RAM. The only other cause I know of is the hard drive. Although this is rare if you had no problems with your operating system before.

Broken keyboard keys on Compaq Presario C500 laptop

yes, all laptop keyboards can be replaced. do you have the manual for the laptop? it shows you have to remove it and take it apart. or you can download the manual from their website. you can buy a used keyboard from ebay. I don't think they are thay expensive.

I suspect that file is malware. If you can download an a/v program to anther computer then install it on CD or USB drive, you can run that program and remove any malware. Restoring the system to a date prior tho the problem can work too.

Display problem for c500 pressario series...

laptop should still be under warranty,,sounds like a Video processor problem,,contact Compaq or HP and get further instructions.
