Charging my nook and the screen came on and went to 99% and thats all the screen will do. Charging light shows green and then it sometimes goes back to orange.

It could be your cable, Nook is know to have faulty charging cables, you may have to buy a new one. If you do, here is a tip, search for a pen that you have to click the top to use it, take it apart and take out the spring, now wrap the spring carefully around the charging cord starting at the end where you plug it into the Nook, I attached a photo. Seems you have a bad charging cable. You might purchase a replacement new one from B&N directly but that costs a arm and a leg. Do some research on Amazon and Yahoo shopping. Compare prices and you might just be able to score two or more for the cost B&N wanted for just one. As these things tend to get worn out over time it never hurts to have a spare or two. This happened on my old Nook Color. After digging around a while on Amazon managed to get two for just under $10 and free shipping. The shipping should be free as you can easily put two in standard large envelope.
