Generic aurora wm-5x 5-sheet strip-cut shredder Logo
Anonymous Posted on Aug 05, 2013

My shredder only cuts the bottom tip of the sheet and makes a high pitched sound. The company website says in its troubleshooting section that the gears may be stripped or worn out. Does anyone know how much it costs to replace or repair the gears? Or is it simply time to buy another shredder. We haven't used this shredder that much so we are surprised that we're already having this problem. Any ideas on the steps required to repair?

Personally I would upgrade and would buy cross cut for better results and to prevent from this happening to the new unit regularly lubricate the feed opening. To replace gears isn't difficult. The tricky part is finding the right replacement. Best of luck

Why does my ld100 shredder stop in middle of sheet

There could be several reasons why your LD100 shredder stops in the middle of shredding a sheet. Some possible causes include:
  • Overheating: The motor of the shredder may be overheating, causing it to shut off as a safety measure. Allow the shredder to cool down before trying again.
  • Paper jam: A paper jam may be causing the shredder to stop. Remove the jam and clear any debris from the shredder before trying again.
  • Overloading: The shredder may be overloaded with too many sheets at once. Feed the sheets in one at a time to avoid overloading the shredder.
  • Blocked cutting blades: The cutting blades may be blocked with debris, causing the shredder to stop. Clean the blades with a brush or compressed air and try again.
  • Faulty motor: The motor may be faulty and need to be repaired or replaced.
  • Power supply: Make sure the shredder is plugged in and that the outlet is providing power.
It's worth trying these solutions one by one and check if the shredder starts to work properly. If the problem persists, it would be best to contact the manufacturer's technical support for further assistance. They may have more specific troubleshooting steps to help you fix the issue.

MEMBERS'S MARK MICRO CUT/12 PULSES WHEN SHRERRING. WORKS GOOD IN REVERSE

If your Member's Mark micro cut shredder is experiencing a problem where it is making 12 pulses when shredding and works good in reverse, it is possible that there is an issue with the shredder's motor or transmission. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
  1. Check the shredder's capacity: Make sure the shredder is not overloaded and that you are using it within its capacity. Overloading the shredder can cause issues with the motor and transmission.
  2. Check for debris: Look for any debris that may be stuck in the shredder's mechanism. Debris can interfere with the movement of the shredder's components and cause problems.
  3. Check for other issues: If the shredder is not overloaded and there is no visible debris, it is possible that there is another issue causing the problem. You may need to have the shredder serviced by a professional to diagnose and fix the issue.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

What is the website of the omnitech company ?

Isn't that the one that FatWallet.com was saying Staples was selling for $20 with free shipping?
Omnitech 10 Sheet Cross Cut Shredder 19 99

Anyway, If you look on the UL label, there should be a phone number to call. (If yours doesn't have it, call 800-675-4481.)

Someone on Amazon had one where the green light came on, but nothing happened. The tech told him the sensor had to be reinitialized. Told him to turn it off, put in a thick paper (birthday card thickness) and turn it back on. He wrote that it worked and runs fine now. (But he still is not happy with it.)

Why does my paper shredder make a clicking sound when I try to shred a piece of paper?

Try putting a piece of paper in enough to start it running, but not so far as to go into the shredder. See if it will run for a minute or two. Sounds as though it may be over heating.

The shredder has started making a whining sound under heavy load - say 10 sheets. It is 5 years old and has had light home usage.

Do you use shredder oil in your device? Even under "light home use" a shredders life is not easy. Ten sheets is a lot of paper to cut.

I use a cross hatch cutter design and I never put in more than 5 sheets and I use shredder oil. Find this product at a FixYa.com advertiser, Staples, Best Buy, Office Depot or any other fine retail outlet.

When I turn the shredder on, there's a high-pitched whirring sound that's almost unbearable. There is no "pull" into the machine, and it turns itself off after a few seconds. Any idea what's up?

The high pitched sound may just be the motor running without driving any gears......you will have to take the top cover off (after you have unplugged the machine)...check and see if you have broken any of the plastic gears/teeth...phone Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts help.......BIG SECRET....don't put so many sheets in at a time.!!!!
