It sounds like you may be having trouble programming your RCA universal remote to work with your 55" Polaroid TV. There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
Make sure you are using the correct code for your TV. RCA universal remotes come with a list of codes for different brands of TVs, so you will need to refer to the instructions for your remote to find the correct code for your TV.
Try manually inputting the code. Some universal remotes require you to manually enter the code for the device you are trying to control, rather than using the automatic search function. Refer to your remote's instructions for more information on manual code entry.
Check the batteries in your remote. Weak or dead batteries can cause issues with remote functionality.
Check if the remote is in the correct mode for the device you are trying to control. Some universal remotes have multiple modes for controlling different types of devices, such as TV mode, DVD mode, etc.
Check if you have the right remote for your TV, if not, try to find the right remote.
If none of these troubleshooting steps work, you may need to contact the manufacturer of your TV or the manufacturer of your universal remote for further assistance.

Look in the manual of your Phillips universal remote CL035A for ther listing of TV codes, take notes of codes for Sylvania and input codes accordig to instructions of your manual. If you can locate Sylamia, follow instrucions for unspecified device. You don't have a manual?
Hi, each TV has its own specific set of codes it uses. But regarding universal remotes and programming them they are all different. universal remote manufactured by "one for all" might have the working set of codes for your TV under code 1234, and universal remote "RCA" might have the working code for your TV under 987. so the code depends on the universal remote you are using.
So we need to know the brand and model number of your universal remote you are programming to find you the correct code. And even if we do find the correct remote and manual for your universal, there is a big possibility that the universal remote will still not work.
It sounds like your TV's display has been routed to
a different INPUT than the Cable/TV input jack, like a VCR in put or an
RCA input. You need to change the input back to TV from VCR or LINE1
or RCA, so on. How to do this without the original remote, you are
going to have to look up the program code for the universal remote and
program that remote correctly, once done, change the TV Input until
you're back on cable.
you do not mention what brand of universal remote you are using but if you have the programming instructions for the remote, look up and folow the instruction for the code search procedure, this procedure when performed correctly will put out all the codes programmed in the remote, if this does not do it for you, then you will need another brand of universal remote.
The REAL solution. The link below is the manual to the RCR450. It shows a pic of the remote which is exactly like the RCR450C. This will teach you how to program the remote and it gives you the codes for the different types of equipment for the universal remote. When the web page comes up, click on "click here" that is in red. Save this manual in your Adobe files for future reference.
