Check to make sure the red handle switch in flipped down, and that the socket has power. if it is and still does not work, the black box (pressure relief valve) is jacked up. good luck trying to get parts. called the manufacture yesterday (July 28) and the company went out of business back in early 2008 and there are no parts that they can supply. i am now looking for another compressor.

Have you checked for a breaker on the unit? it would be out of sight but assessable and look like a small switch.

Question moved from Cars and Trucks.

Unknown make, vintage, no model number, you will probably have to buy similar generic parts. The search query may work better for you are because Google targets where you live and tailors the answers based on location.

What type, weight and amount of compressor oil do I put in my durabuilt dp0200604

30W non detergent oil, get at least a quart, change oil as often as you would an engine oil, same hours of use. Synthetic non detergent 30W would be preferred.

My twin tank 2hp comp will run but pressure wont build up pass 20 lbs.

If the motor is working OK but pressure won't go over 20psi you may have an air leak but most probably have damaged piston rings or cylinder or the valve plate is damaged. Check to make sure the tank drain valve isn't open or that you don't have leaks in any of the air lines. If that's OK, you will have to remove the head from the cylinder to check the valve plate and piston/cylinder assembly. The reeds on the valve plate should be flat and not overly discolored (black or blued) from heat. If they are they can warp or get brittle and break. Since your compressor is oil lubricated it is rare for the piston/rings/cylinder to get damaged unless it's run with no oil so check those areas for scoring or damage like broken rings. Replace whatever is damaged and keep the oil full.

UNIT WILL NOT COOL. FAN AND HUMIDIFIER WORK. THIS IS ONLY THE SECOND SEASON USED AND THE UNIT HAS NEVER BEEN SITTING UP AND NEVER LAID DOWN OR TURNED UP SIDE DOWN. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Hello,
A portable air conditioner may not cool for several reasons. Check the filter by removing the unit's grill and clean the filter.
Also check for clogs in the evaporator or condenser coils by light vacuuming. Make sure the evaporator isn't frosted over, but if it is, allow it to defrost and normal operation should resume.
Lastly, ensure the ambient temperature is lower than your AC's set temperature, as this can prevent cooling. However, if all of these steps fail to resolve your problem, the compressor may be malfunctioning, and in this case, the compressor needs to be replaced or repaired.
In summary, if the air won't cool, remove the grill and clean the filter. Clean out any clogs in the evaporator or condenser coils by vacuuming them and scrubbing them lightly with an old toothbrush. And since fan is working, you compressor might be defective.
I hope the above information is clear.
Regards.

1994 Ford Taurus GL - Blows ambient temperature air when set on coolest setting, heat works normally. Refrigerant is full and no leaks in the line. Any ideas? Before I parked the vehicle last year, I...

If the refrigerant is ok the compressor should be coming on. If it isn't, check the AC fuse. Since it was not up to par when last used, it sounds like the refrigerant is low in charge though. If it is low enough, the compressor won't start.

Ve a black max 20 gallon air compressor. It is 8 years old but, I have not used it much. It will not start,

Is it electric or gas,? If the motor turns when it is free of the compressor then the compressor (cylinders and valves) could be frozen up. Try to turn it by hand. Try a little WD 40 in the cylinders let it set for a while. When was the last time you used it? If you got moister in it you may have trashed it.
