What does the oil tank in the front of a 1997 Polaris Xplorer 400 2 Stroke hold oil for? need to find out where the drain plugs are so I can empty them and Refill with new oil. Thanks!

Its the oil injection tank. This is the oil that mixes with the gas. Without and oil/gas mixture your 2 stroke motor will be ruined due to lack of internal lubrication. Some people will disconnect them and premix the gas due to a fear of failure of the injection system.

Can i use synthetic oil -gas mixture at 50:1 in my maxtra without damage? What oil should I use to lubricate the Chain?

Maxtra is a cultivator, a motorcycle, a pole saw or a water filter - according to google and probably more besides. Obviously the lack of specific information limits the advice we can offer.

Lots of 2-stroke owners these days prefer using synthetic self-mixing 2-stroke oil these days and so if 50:1 is the ratio recommended for your machine you will be ok.

Chain lubrication is a subject for discussion. If a standard old-fashioned roller chain the traditional approach offers a longer life and less wear. Removing the chain periodically and boiling it in a thick black moly grease, leave it to cool and then fish it out, wipe off the surplus grease and refit it. Use a proprietary external chain lube betweentimes whenever the chain appears dry.

Modern drive chains are often O ring types that need only external lubrication and for these I recommend a moly based chain and cable lubricant. It is available in an aerosol and sprays like penetrating oil but when exposed to the air it thickens after a few minutes to a very sticky grease.

25 evinrude outboard motor how do I tell if it’s 2 or 4 stroke

If my memory is working, a two stroke engine uses oil in the fuel for lubrication. four stroke has oil in a crank case for lubrication.

What causes spark plugs to burn frequently

The biggest contributor to that is the engine running too lean, then the plug rating is too hot, then timing.

White smoke coming from 4 stroke lawn mower

It is most likely oil. Probably passing past the rings on the piston. I use 2 stroke oil in all my mowers / small motors whether they are 2 stroke or 4 stroke (based on advice from a small motor repairer) since the 2 stroke oil helps lubricate the bore and even though there is some minimal smoke usually on start-up. Depending on how bad the smoke is you can try a heavier grade oil and I would recommend using a 25:1 2 stroke mix if you want to extend the life of your small motors.

I have a husqvarna partner K960 concrete saw that the skirt of the piston on the exhaust side has shattered, there is no scoring in the bore, the actually sides of the piston above the damage has no...

If the piston is working in the cylinder properly, that part of the piston shouldn't be making contact with the cylinder wall so lubrication shouldn't contribute to its demise unless it was bad enough to lead to enough heat buildup to cause the failure. It is most likely the metal was weak in a way or spot that the force of the piston going up and down was enough for the metal to finally fail. Of course the faster the motor is turning the higher those forces are so over reving the motor could certainly lead to this type of failure.

I was driving my 50cc roketa bahama series scooter down, the road today and all of a sudden it boged down, like it was not getting gas and I slowed down and it dyed, after waiting a few minutes it started...

If this is a 4 stroke engine it sounds like a simple fuel delivery problem. Clogged filter, or screen or a restriction from debri in the carberetor.
If it's a 2 stroke it could be running lean and the cylinder is overheating. This may be doing damage to the cyl. walls. Don't run it until diagnosed.
A lack of proper fuel leads to lack of lubrication in 2 stroke motors, lean mix causes high heat to build and soon you have a heavily scored cyl and piston.

Could you please let me know. 1] Can I use E10 fuel in my new RLT 30 CET 30cc trimmer that I have just purchased and am yet to start up? 2] Is 50 to 1 50mm of oil to one litre of petrol?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

First off the engine is designed to operate on unleaded fuel. The manufacturer makes no statements at all about E-10 Fuel. I will tell you from experience that you can use E-10 Fuel but.... should you ever have a warranty claim make sure the entire fuel system is 100% unleaded pre-mixed fuel. Your not going to hurt the unit using E-10 fuel as long as you maintain the proper fuel-oil mixtures. If anything a splash more of 2 stroke oil as in 22 mm / liter vs 20 mm. Or (+) 8 mm per gal.

Manufacturers statemenrts and recommended fuel mixtures below:

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

n This product is powered by a 2-stroke engine and

requires pre-mixed petrol and 2-stroke lubricant . Premix

unleaded petrol and 2-stroke engine lubricant in

a clean container approved for petrol.

n This engine is certified to operate on unleaded petrol

intended for automotive use with an octane rating
of 87 ([R + M] / 2) or higher.

2 Litres + 4 0 ml =
