MY RD5081 RICE COOKER ONLY WILL JUST WARM RICE, WON'T COOK.

My Hitachi rd5081 8.3 rice cooker was working well, but now when you press down on button to cook it stays down with light on like its cooking but its only warming water. Can anyone please help with this problem.
Thanks in advance.

The preassure switch may be not working right.
It may be corroded, etc.
Unplug the unit and push it back several times, try to see if the spring is working, etc.

Hi francis,
the heating element could be distorted or warped, therefore the contact of the switch to the bottom of the rice bowl is incomplete. Hope this helps.

I don't know if this helps Francis, but i have found that my rice cooker tends to do this when I plug it before I the rice water and bowl in the unit. you can try geting everything in place and then plugging it, then setting it to cook. Good Luck.

Was using rice cooked for sometime. My cooker is not starting to cook whne I press cook button. That is there is no blip and light above cook is not coming. Whereas when I press on warm button, warm button...

In the top cover of your rice cooker there is a sensor that controls the cooking circuit. Most of the t\ime what happens is the wire in the hinge area breaks due to the opening and closing of the lid. I even had to repair my own rice cooker by cutting away the damaged wire then soldering a longer new wire in BOTH wires. I also added shrink tubing over the 4 connections on 2 wires.

Tiger rice cooker

Hi,
There is a sensor that regulates how hot the cooker gets and shuts it down to the warm setting when it senses that the heat is too high...meaning that all the water has cooked off....my guess is that the sensor failed and as far as I know it is not replaceable.

I got this rice cooker as a gift, but will not work.

I had the same issue with my tefal cooker.

It may be that the bottomof the pot is a little bend in and it you can push it out a little, it may then push the thermostat down the required distance

Cook/Warm switch sometimes not working

I just fixed our rice cooker with the same issue - turns on and warms, but won't stay in 'cook' when the lever is pushed down. My solution was: the pot that goes inside the rice cooker was dented on the bottom and was not pressing down on the mechanism at the bottom of the cooker. Once I flattened the bottom of the pot, it works!
