I need the specs to build a speaker box to fix a 2002 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. the subs are two rockford fosgate p3d4 12". I would like to mount them in the holes under the back seats if i can. can anyone please help me i have been to at least 50 web sites and everyone wants to charge me to much money. Thank you.
I do design sub enclosures for a living and I give free specs on basic setups, so you are in luck. As a starting point I'll start by saying that fitting them under the seat may not work that well. Each sub will need about .75 cu.ft. sealed and probably double or triple that for a good ported box. I can get more specific If you e-mail me ([email protected]) the specs on those subs. Specifically I will need the Theile Small parameters ( these numbers-VAS, QES, QMS, FS, etc,) and then I can give you a better idea of where they will fit. If they do go under the seat they will probably not produce really low bass because smaller boxes generally produce higher bass tones. This decision should be based on what you listen too and what you expect them to sound like. They most likely will be more thump than boom and some people like that, so figure that out as well and let me know. Also my father has the same truck and there is a lot of room under the back seat. You can also gain some extra space by using fiberglass to conform the enclosure to the contour of the truck.
