Charging ipod nanon 4th gen on bose sound-dock

My 3rd gen ipod nano played and charged fine on the bose sound-dock. the 4th gen nano plays but does not charge - says charging not authorised...pls help..

I have the same problem here. I have contacted Apple and they said that the new 4th gen iPods now use USB charging instead of Firewire. The Bose sound dock is set up for the Firewire charging. I have then contacted Bose and the only solution they had was to ship the dock to their service center in North Carolina and for $99 they would upgrade it to charge any future iPods. I am now looking for more inexpensive solutions like an adapter the Apple guy was telling me about for $20.

I just bought the ipod nano 6th generation and it will not charge in the Bose docking system....my old one charges with no problem.....is there a fix for this? The nano plays fine it just wont charge

If it is a different model iPod then it is likely the Bose dock does not support the newer model. Quite often changes such as from iPhone 3 to iPhone 4, Bose had to release a new dock. The speakers and music will still always work, but the support will be limited for charging. Unfortunately you will not be able to fix this, other than upgrade the dock, or go back to your old ipod.

How can I use JVC AVX810 with Iphone? Currently IPOD works fine with the USB cable but IPHONE is not recognised. Maybe there is an adaptor that can solve it?

JVC KS-PD100 iPod Interface Adapter (257KSPD100, sold separately). This optional iPod Interface Adapter supports audio playback for the following iPod models - iPod click-wheel (3rd gen), iPod photo (4th gen), iPod mini (1st/2nd gen), iPod nano (1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), iPod video (5th gen), and iPod classic (80/120/160GB). The KS-PD100 is not compatible with the iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd gen), iPod nano (5th gen), or iPhone (2G/3G/3GS). This iPod interface will also not charge the iPod nano (4th generation). *Apple firmware updates may change functionality results.

Important Note: iPods released since Sept 2008 (e.g. Touch 2nd Gen, 4th Gen iPod Nano and iPod Classic 120 Gigabyte, iPhone 3g and onwards) have an updated dock connector that means older revisions of speaker dock may not be able to charge these newer models of iPod/iPhone. Older docks should play music from these newer models with no problem.
The problem with charging is due to Apple removing support for 12v (firewire) charging on these new models of iPod/iPhone. Only 5v (USB) charging is supported on these new models. ..."

Bose Docking Station incompatibility with IPOD Touch

You need to reset your ipod. You can go online to find out how to do this. I had to do it with mine and then it worked perfectly.

My Jamo i300 will not charge my new ipod nano (4th Gen).

not likely the new 4 gen Ipod has different pin set within its dock connector system for the video output which has made many 3rd party accessories no longer able to charge the ipod but it will still play music

Does the aj300D speaker dock charge and play the new iPod nano 4t

nano 4th does not support firewire anymore, best option is to bring your AJ300D back to where you bought it. Philips claim that nano 4th is supported is not true.

Gen 3 nano and bose docking station

Have you tried another iPod on it?? I suspect that if you do, that one won't work either. If it's a Bose SoundDock then they are well known for having problems with the iPod connector getting loose. Try with another iPod. If results are the same, take your SoundDock back. Bose should exchange it straight away.
