I have a HD3 version of the HLN617W1x/xaa. The color wheel went out. I ordered a new part. When the part came in I discovered the TV has a 7 segment wheel and the new part only has 6 segments. I have not tried to install the new part and will not until I get to the bottom of the difference. They originally put a 7 segment wheel in for a reason.
You got sent the wrong color wheel, You will definatly need a 7 segment whhel for your model.Your color index will be off with the 6 segment wheel and you wont be able to index it correctly

If you are a person interested in learning about electronics assembly and repair. The HLN617W1X/XAA will take you there if your color wheel goes out. I have over 20 years in electronics as an engineer and I wish that I could have been the mechanical design engineers manager for this HDTV. I would have had him replace so many color wheels he/she would have redesigned the production release. I had no manual to make this repair. I took my time until I finally got to the plastic housing that needs to be removed to replace the color wheel. There must be 30 screws and 15 cables just to make what should have been a simpler repair. If anyone is interested in a fee based video to repair this beast let me know at [email protected] I will make one video for the lamp, color wheel and fan repairs. This HDTV has at least 6 common failures (4 fans, 1 lamp, and a color wheel). I have ordered the service manual to aid in this video. I am willing to help you with other t-shooting issues as time permits.
