Excel 2000 Issue???

Hi,

We have a folder that contains our ISO procedures within Excel. For some reason when some people open it theres a error message saying "File Error: Data may have been lost" ...and the pictures with hyperlinks are not there on any of the spreadsheets. This doesnt happen on everyones machine, but on the people that need it, it does.
Any ideas? I thought maybe this was a security patch that was installed but I dont know.....?????

Thanks in advance

Emma

Hi thanks for getting back to me guys.

This issue doesnt happen with everyone, I can open the same spreadsheet on another machine and it opens up fine with the pictures/hyperlinks. When opened there isnt any recolection of there being anything there. Its just completely blank. This was working fine before christmas as that was the last time things were updated.......

.Let's start with this for more info:
Is the URL icon there but blank? (Maybe an X in the middle of the box?) If it's there, do the following:

Right-click on the URL
2. Select Hyperlink from the menu that appears
3. Is Remove Hyperlink box checked or unchecked?

This is a setting that is machine-specific. Post the answer as a comment and we'll take the next step if necessary

Is this in a network environment? Also is it possible the orginal file was converted from Excel 5.0 for use in Excel 2000?

  • Jim Apr 02, 2009

What I would try is copy the prime file on the server on to a floppy disc (or thumb drive, etc) and open the copied file on one of the machines that exibit the problem. I still think a [save as] or setting on the local machine is the root of the problem. The message "File Error: Data may have been lost" indicates the embedded file change history in Excel is aware of a change/parameter problem or incompatibility.

  • Jim Apr 02, 2009

Also, what version of Excel is on the machines that exibit the problem? Office or Excel 2000 should have Excel 9.0 (there is at least an SR1 update)

  • Jim Apr 02, 2009

OK select where on the spreadsheet you want the hyperlink to be, then from the toolbar click:

    Insert

    Hyperlink

Use the existing file button on the left and browse for the file on the server. See if the "inserted links" button shows the original file location. Insert the hyperlink and try it.

[Quote comment] "All that happens when I create a hyperlink its just the shortcuts writing not pictures etc, but i cant even click on this to be able to go to that page"

Are you trying to say that the hyperlink you create appears as just typed text and not a highlighted link that when clicked on opens the path file or url?

  • Jim Apr 03, 2009

Open a new excel spreadsheet and create a hyperlink in any cel. Copy & Paste the following URL as the path

    http://www.fixya.com/

Save the spreadsheet...what happens to the copied and pasted url? Is it a working hyperlink?

The images may be in a folder that is not accessible by everyone on the network, or appears to be in a different location depending on what computer you are viewing the spreadsheet from.  make sure that the images are in the same folder as the spreadsheet, ammending any references to them as appropriate. do not reference them by their full path, ie; 'C:\Documents\photos\image1.jpeg',as the computer opening the spreadsheet will look on its own hardrive, instead just reference them by their filename, ie; 'image1.jpeg'. Alternatively store the images on a shared network drive that has the same address on any computer on the network.
Obviously, use your actual filenames.

WHILE EXPORTING THE TALLY DATA IN EXCEL FORMAT,ERROR OCCURED UNABLE TO SAVE FILE.PLEASE GIVE ME A SOLUTION

You can be getting an error notice when attempting to export Tally data in Excel format for a number of reasons.
You might attempt the following troubleshooting steps:

If you're trying to save the Excel file somewhere, be sure you have the right rights.
You might not have the required permissions to save the file if you are attempting to save it in a restricted place or on a network disk.
Try storing the file somewhere else, such your desktop or another folder.

Make sure you have enough space on your hard drive to save the file.It might not be possible to save the Excel file if your hard drive is full or nearly full.
Try removing unnecessary files or programs to free up some disk space.

Verify the file name and path for any special characters.
While saving the file, issues may occur if the file name or path contains special characters like slashes or colons.
Change the file's name while avoiding special characters.

Check to see if the Excel file is open already.
It might not be possible to save the file if it is open in another program or instance of Excel.
Close any open Excel windows, then try exporting the file once more.

A different format might be tried for the file's export.
Try exporting the file in an other format, such as CSV or PDF, if you are unable to save the file in Excel format.

If none of these fixes the problem, you might need to contact Tally support or your IT department for more help.

I have several excel files stored on my system. I used these files from the same computer daily. Yesterday, when i tried to open several files in Excel 2007 then i found following error on my co,puter...

  • Navigate to the folder containing the XLSX file you want to repair.
  • Right-click the file and select "Copy" and then right-click on a blank space within the folder and select "Paste." This action generates a backup copy of the corrupted file.
  • Open Microsoft Excel 2007 or later.
  • Click the "Office" button in the top left corner of the window and select "Open."
  • Navigate to the folder containing the copy of the XLSX file you generated previously and select it by single-clicking its icon.
  • Click the arrow located to the right of the "Open" button and select "Open and Repair."
  • Select "Repair." If you previously attempted this method and the process failed, try to extract only the values and formulas by selecting "Extract Data" instead. Regardless of the method you choose, your data will appear on the screen within a few seconds if the process completes successfully.

Hi friends, How to convert dmg fil to iso file? I have mac os on dmg format how to create a installation dvd?

1.Double-click the DMG file to mount it.
2.Open Disk Utility, located in the Utilities folder within Applications.
3.Highlight the mounted disk, indented directly beneath the DMG file, in Disk Utility's sidebar.
4.Select "New Image" from the navigation toolbar.
5.Enter a name for the new image, select a place to save it and select "DVD/CD Master" from the Format drop-down menu. Select "OK" to start the process.
6.Open the folder containing the newly converted image file. It will have .cdr for its extension. Double-click the text to bring up the editing field to rename the file. Delete ".cdr" and add ".iso" and press "Enter." A warning will pop up, asking if you would like to keep the extension .cdr or use .iso. Select "Use .iso" and your DMG file is now an ISO file.
Thanks for using Fixya.Have a good day.

I have many games but when i open the memory stick there are no games..i eject the card then i put it back, but there's no games at all : (

If it is CFW make sure the ISO/CSO files are in X:/ISO folder and .pbp files in X:/PSP/GAME folder. Another tip backup all your saves/ games data etc from the memory stick. Then on the psp go to System>Format Memory Stick it will delete everything on your psp and make all the file errors be corrected.

    What is iso?

An "iso" file is just a disk image.
There are two ways to deal with a disk image: put it on a disk, or make it look like you put it on a disk.

    •
The easiest way to think of an iso file is more like a "zip" or "cab" file, only without the compression.
An iso file contains the image of a disk. That means it contains all the files and folders that were on that disk, much like a zip or cab file contains a collection of files and folders. The real difference is that an iso is a byte-for-byte copy of the low-level data actually stored on a disk.
There's nothing about the iso format that actually knows about files, folders or formats. It's just the raw data from the disk. Now, naturally that raw data, if interpreted correctly, may know about files, folders and format. But, like a disk, the operating system has to look, see what format was used (things like FAT32, NTFS and the like), and interpret the contents of the iso file as if it were reading the raw data from an actual disk.
