Sony 5 disk changer disk is stuck not able to open the tray

Some have a tiny hole in the tray front to manually release it/push the tray open.

Hi. If you are able to open, do so and check if you find a black rubber band that could have fallen off the tray. If you do just buy and replace. The band is is driven by some gears and helps open the tray and if it ages it gets damaged and cuts off. If the band is still intact, then see if the elasticity is still there and replace if there is no elasticity. If the band seems fine, then look at the gear near the end of the tray and try to open the tray manually.If you open the tray manually try see if there are broken or damaged gears. If non power the system and see if the tray closes. If it does then press the open button to see if it opens. If it does not, change the black rubber band that should work.

i hv also this problem from yestrday.. all function are ok. bt when playing dvd ... there is 'please wait'error long time. and also tray not open after pressing open or exchange cd also... whats problem.. please help me.. waiting

Dear friend, my sony dvd drive tray opens and closes itself, it is mostly a problem related to hardware. in my case I removed the IDE Data cable connected to the dvd drive and reconnected it again. now my dvd drive works well, I think the problem was the IDE data cable, may be a loose contact.due to this loose cantact,a jung signal goes to the dvd drive, which opens and closes the tray frequently without our knowledge.

well, if you hearing clicks is possible that you will only be able to fix by opening and looking if the door has been misplaced..... is possible that a cd is stuck and you need to open to fix.....

another way to fix is to press and hold Eject and Stop ON THE UNIT! while turning the nub to the right (volume up)
that will open the the service unlocking the system!!!!! THAT WILL ONLY WORK if the door or a cd is NOT stuck on it

Someone on this site suggested a fix for a different player.  Open up the unit to get to the dvd changer.  If the disk are not aligned, then push them so they are even.  It may take a while to see where they are but it worked for me.

There is a possiblity that he may have shifted the unit while discs were in it causing the discs to slip off the tray and into the unit. You have to open the unit to check if there are loose discs.
