The maiintenance cartridge is the waste ink tank. Purchase the cartridge from Canon. The instructions will show you where the door is for the cartridge (on the front of the printer). You will open the door, remove the old cartridge and plug in the new cartridge. The sheet that comes with the new cartridge will also have the proceedure to clear the message. Hope this helps

Ipf8400 reads "no maintenance cartridge" replaced it with 2 brand new canon cartridge's and still read "no maintenance cartridge"

You replaced the "ink cartridges". It needs a "Maintenance cartridge". This is a separate cart, that holds waste ink.

Canon will make it hard for you to refill or use other mfg. carts. The have been using a small electronic fuse that can be reset with a device purchased from ink cart resellers. The chip on the cart is reset and the printer firmware thinks the cartridge is a Canon Cart, thus it works just fine.

Reset maintenance tank

It should reset itself when you replace the maintenance cartridge. If not go into menu and under maintenance select replace maintenance cartridge and follow the steps on the LCD.

How to Replace catridge epson stylus c43sx

Are any of the cartridges empty or not? Always replace the cartridges with the printer on.

If you do not have any low ink alerts, you need to enter the maintenance mode. Press the Maintenance button (has both an ink drop and a paper symbol) and the Power button at the same time. Then open the black printer cover (lift up).

If any cartridges are low or out, just lift up the printer cover. Then press the maintenance button. The cartridge carrier will move the empty cartridge to the replacement position. (If both cartridges are out or you are using the Maintenance mode, the cartridge carrier will move the black cartridge to the replacement position.) Lift up the cartridge clamp (at the back of the carrier for current cartridge to replace; it will rotate towards you.). Then lift the cartridge up; dispose of the empty cartridge. Unwrap your new cartridge and remove the yellow tape (do not touch the IC chip or remove the other tape from the cartridge). Push the new cartridge straight down into the carrier.

Close the cartridge clamp and press the maintenance button to move the color cartridge to the replacement position. Repeat the cartridge replacement steps above for that cartridge. Close the printer cover. Then press the Maintenance button again and wait while the printer charges the ink system.

For pictures to go with the steps, see http://support2.epson.net/manuals/english/ij/stylusc43/REF_G/INK_1.HTM .

I hope this helps.

How to refit the epson scan printer cartridge

Turn on your printer and open the top cover (not just the scanner lid) and press the maintenance button (the little paper icon with a drop) and wait for the head to move into the maintenance position. Now lift the ink cartridge clamp to expose the ink cartridge and carefully lift the old cartridge out. Now open the new cartridge and remove the yellow strip, but however do not touch the green tab, now insert the new cartridge with the green tab facing toward the front of the printer. Now close the clamp and re press the maintenance button and wait for the printer to recognise the new ink cartridge (30 secs.) And you are finished.
Thanks,
Ash.

How do i get the cartridge out

Press the fontb1.gif maintenance button. The print head moves to the black or color ink cartridge replacement position, the fontp.gif power light begins to flash, and the fontb1.gif error light begins to flash or remains on. When both cartridges are out of ink, the print head moves to the black ink cartridge replacement position first. After replacing the black cartridge, press the fontb1.gif maintenance button again to switch to the color cartridge replacement position.
