The battery on my blackberry 8310 went dead. I plugged in the charger. The red light lit for a few seconds and then went out. The a picture of a battery with a lightning bolt came up for a few seconds and went out. After that, nothing. I bought a new battery and the same thing happened. Any suggestions?
Ok so what u basically do is just keep the charger in the usb port. then take the battery out then plug it back in. this totally works!
It turned out that the usb interface on the blackberry went bad. If I had more experience, I would have known right away. Here are the conditions:
The battery was dead. I plugged in the charger. The led showed red for a few seconds and went out. A few seconds later the battery icon with the lightning bolt appeared for a few seconds and then went out. I now realize that when the icon went out, the charging had stopped.
I got ahold of a charged battery and the blackberry turned on.; When I plugged the balckberry into my PC, the PC did not detect it. My conclusion was that the USB interface on the blackberry had failed and could neither communicate nor charge the batterty.
Solution: Since the unit was still under warrenty, I called AT&T. They FEDEXed a replacement which arrived the next day. Also using the charged battery, I copied recent address book entries (in the failed blackberry to the SIM card before transfering the SIM card to the replacement blackberry.
