A firewire (IEEE 1394 interface) cable is different from a mini USB cable. Below is an image of a firewire cable and should be readily available from most computer/camera shoppes. You could start here, here or here. Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

The cable you need is called a "mini USB cable". It has a mini USB connector on one end and a usb cable on the other. It can be bought in most computer shops once you know what it's called. If you can't get one they're easily available on line. Amazon has them at http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-27005-Mini-B-Cable/dp/B000067RVL or if you put "mini USB cable" in google it will come up with plenty places that sell it.
Sounds like the sd card is beginning to give you a problem, if you can find another sd card or just buy one, (they are less then 20 bucks now) copy the software from the original sd card and put it onto the new card. This should clear up the problem since it sounds like the cards lock is worn down to much for the sensor to feel it.
Players use standard USB, Mini USB, or Micro USB. I believe the one in title uses Mini USB cable.
To get a replacement cable go to any computer shop or camera shop and buy a Mini USB cable, take the player with you and show it to the shop assistant to ensure you are buying the right cable.
