I have the top mount refrigerator - 4years old. Ice maker was installed then removed because it broke about 2 years ago. Suddenly I am getting a huge amount of water in the crisper drawer but no other problem and no build up of ice anywhere. I tried changing the humidity settings - nothing happened. There is no water on the floor..... and freezer working fine. Door is not opened very much as I live alone. Any suggestions>

Good day, 3 screws hold the ice maker in place. On some versions the 2 top screws are replaced with clips, but it is self explanatory. The cover is a tight fit, but un clips from the bottom first. You re-install by snapping it in place with the palm of your hand. The wire pulls straight out of the front of the ice maker and then you wiggle the rear off its mounting hole. HOWEVER, What you described is classic of a bad water valve. Especially the overflow issue. I would change the valve first, and if it still has issues then replace the ice maker.
You need a new ice maker in this unit. This is a very simple repair to perform. You will just need to provide us with your brand and model number so we be sure to get the correct parts for your specific unit.

not nessecarily an electrical fire, but sounds as if the compressor is struggling to start, it is indeed "tripping off" on overload. so yo may start ot see a decline in refrigeration. check your manual for "sealed system" coverage. adn check that against our date of purchase, you should have 5 yr manufactuere warr, but that all changed Jan '06 coverage was reduced to one year! yo ucan try replacing teh overlaod relay, atached ot the side of the compressor if youd like
It's time to replace the dual water inlet valve (the part the water line connects to). A bit of sediment or other fine object can get in the seat or the material itself can deteriorate and allow a tiny amount of water to pass up to the icemaker.
