Keycode reqd some how the phone line went dead to this jack/workstation, a tech came in and physically moved the wires to a new port. the nortel system (bcm50) immediately recognized the phone set on the port and DN as an active set. However the phone just beeps and gives the keycode reqd message. I can sign in the the system from the phone set with the telset commands etc. but actual phone use we don't get. ideas for the cause or for a fix? It does not appear to me that we have in anyway exceeded our system limits.

The BCM 50 can be key coded for up to 12 extensions on the main cabinet. Expansions cabinets use one key code to cover whatever Media Bay Module is installed. If you have an expansion cabinet with extensions it is possible that the extensions on the main cabinet did not get key coded. I have had a system with an expansion cabinet and only key coded eight extensions in the main cabinet because it was cheaper. This can be checked in the system / key codes area of programming.

SOURCE: Cannot print a report from the Nortel Norstar M7310 phone system.

The vm needs to be acknowledged by the printer that it has received the print, verify the settings are correct on the printer and their are no errors on the printer. you may have to restart the vm if no problems can be found with the printer.

SOURCE: Nortel M7310 Phone moved to another jack, now no incoming calls

The reason your phones config is not the same as before is because configuration goes by what extension it is. So if you plug your phone in somewhere else, unless you have DN's configured, your extension changes, so say it was extension 21, but now that you moved it, its now 23, those settings remain on extention 21, so if you bought another phone and plugged it into were extention 21 is, it would have the settings that your old phone had before

To access the intercom by just picking up the handset, Press Feature **CONFIG (266344), Select <A. Configuration>, then go to <2. Line Access>, Select that and enter the extension of the phone you want to have access intercom by just picking up the handset. Scroll until you see <Intercom Keys: #,> make sure you have at least one intercom key. Then scroll until you see <Prime Line: #>, Press change until the display reads <Prime Line:I/C>  And there you go. Hope i didn't confuse you

SOURCE: My Meridian M7310 phone system is unable to

Either the line from the telephone company is out or the line port in the line card is defective. The easiest way to determine if its one or the other is to report the line trouble to the telephone company. they'll check the line up to where it comes into the building, and if theres a problem on thier side they'll get it back in service. If the report the line is good to the building, then you'll need to call your telephone system service technician.

Meridian M3820 - why is display not working

Try another 4 wire phone cord from the wall jack to the phone it is possible that you have a bad cord. These phones will only work with a Meridian System .2 wires are line ,the other 2 wires are power to the phone. If you have another phone try plugging it into the same wall jack to check the jack/line itself. Anything else would be a defective phone/ lcd ( note you can have dial tone without display, but the unit will only access one line.

All of a sudden the line lights on our nortel switch Meridian M7310 phones started blinking and the lines are dead. Any ideas?

If you only have one line, why not just lose the Nortel system? You can reuse the wiring from the phone sets to the contoller as regular inside wire, and just plug in regular phones(and maybe put the Nortel phones and controller on EBay and make a few bucks off it!)

The display is blank.

Does the phone give you dial tone? It may be a dead phone. Try another working phone there.

If that phone doesnt work, the wiring jack or port is bad.

How to move extension numbers from office to office using nortel t7316e

There is a feature built-in to the norstar system called "Set Relocation". When this feature is turned on, you can move a working extension to an unused/activated jack and the extension, features and mailbox will stay with the phone.
Have your system administrator turn the feature on, then move up to 2 phones at a time. The phone will go through 2 bootup sessions - be patient and don't unplug the phone.
Good Luck!

Getting the M7208 to work

Nortel M7000 series are proprietary sets which require a nortel MICS, CICS, or an older 8x24, 6x16, or 3x08 in order to work. If you have the system, it maybe that the jack isn't activated with a system port.

Phone is dead! M7310

There is no power cord required for an M7310 set. The set gets all the power from the Nortel telephone system. Try plugging in your phone where another phone is active to ensure that your phone that you want to install is working. The phone flashes, then stops, then flashes, then stops... you just have to be patient when testing. Possible Troubles: -> It maybe the line cord, the cord that plugs in from the wall to the phone that can be damaged. -> the jack might be dead (wiring in the jack is pulled off) or inactive (there is no jumper from the office to the telephone system). -> the phone port from the telephone system might be dead.

Adding new extension to Nortel Norstar Meridian Phone System

you should have a panel designated for the system phones only and a panel for your wall jacks.

you only need to take two wires from the designated phone extension you want to activate to the wall jack you need activated. If you have a RJ 45 panel all you need to do is patch one end to the system phone port and the other end to the wall jack port make sure on the back side of the panel that the wires are punched down. The thin wires will need to be punched down with a special punch tool that you can purchase from Home depot or Lowes depending on what kind of panel it is. White/Blue,Blue/White,White/Org.Org/White.White Green/Grn/White.White/Brown.Brown/White.Solid White with violet color stripe.Solid Violet with white stripe is the color code in which to punch down for each cable. What city are you in may i ask?

How to add a second lint to Nortel Phone System???

So what, exactly, is your question? Physically, you order a second line in a "hunt" group, and plug or wire it into the system cabinet. By default, a Nortel system has 2 lines already programmed to the sets, but you will probably need to activate the second line appearance in programming.

Plugging it in

Your Nortel M7208 phone is plugged into your Norstar phone system (not the phone line) You would not be able to use DSL on the same phone port used by the M7208 phone. A filter connected to that port would not solve a DSL issue and could only cause problems with the M7208 phone. You may need to put the filter on the phone lines before they connect to the Nortel phone system... I don't know which system you have or how it is wired up so I am not sure how easy that would be for you.
