Screen keeps turning off followed by the green power/standby light flashing several times. This has been cycling all day. I pulled the lamp and retightened all the screws but it is still doing it. Any suggestions?

Same thing...power turns on normally, then after about a minute it cycles off with a green flashing light as if it is resetting itself. It then comes back on and works fine. It happens every time i turn the tv on. KDF-42WE655

I have the same problem. So, should I try to do it myself ( I have no exp. but I do tinker a bit with electronics ) or send to a repair shop. And if I do send to a repair shop, how much ( ball park figure )should I look forward to pay to fix.

I HAVE A SONY WEGA KDF 60XS955 STARTS AND A MINUTE LATER POWER GREEN LIGHTS TURNS RED AND THE IMAGE OF THE TV IS GONE AND IT DOES THE SAME ON AND ON.

I ORDER A NEW LIGHT BECAUSE I RAN THE SELF DIAGNOSTIC AS THE SERVICE MANUAL INDICATES AND IT SHOWS 3 ERRORS 1.- IS THE LAMP ERROR ALTOUGHT IT DOES NOT SHOW IT IN THE FRONT PANEL RIGHT NEXT TO SD CARD 2.- LAMP COVER AND 3.- LAMP DRIVER, NOW WHAT I DID AND HOPE I'M RIGHT JUST INCASE IF THE NEW LAMP DOES NOT WORK THEN MY SECOND CHOICE WOULD BE THE T BOARD THE SWITCH # CN 8001 COULD BE THE PROBLEM AND IN CASE IF DOES NOT WORK MY LAST RESOURCE WOULD BE THE BOARD G2 PART NUMBER 9-965-974-01, THAT FOR SURE WOULD FIX IT IT HAS THE IC 6902 THAT CONTROLS THE LAMP AND THE T BOARD.

  • OSCAR GARCIA Jan 05, 2008

TV WONT COME ON AND THE LIGHT KEEPS FLASHIN RED AN GREEN ON THE STANDBY BUTTON

  1. If your Sony Wega will not turn on, the front green light blinks, you hear a faint whirring sound and the green light turns red and flashes, it probably means the lamp inside the set is no longer working. If you noticed the screen beginning to dim in the preceding days or weeks, this most likely is the cause.

  2. If the green light flashes and the picture comes on momentarily but then goes off, and the green button flashes until the set restarts, then the seal around the lamp mount is loose and needs to be refitted.

  3. If the picture on your Grand Wega cuts in and out and the green standby light flashes, both of the set's STKs need to be replaced. STKs are small chips on your television's circuit boards and are identifiable by their labels. The specific STKs used in your Grand Wega TV will be identifiable by the numbered labels on top of the STKs.

  4. When you plug in your Sony Wega and hear a loud popping sound, it's probably caused by a defect in the high-voltage circuit. Let the professionals take care of this one.

  5. If, after turning on your Sony Wega, you can hear your set but the screen is black, you most likely need to replace your projection lamp.

I just replaced the lamp on my sony wega 42WE655 tv and the lamp replacement indicator light onthe front no longer indicates that it is bad, but the standby light keeps flashing red. when i try to turn it...

If you just replaced the lamp then there's something wrong in the power circuit or you have a bad lamp. If you can I would take the back cover off and look at the board where the power cord connects and lok around it for swollen capacitors. Let me know if you find anything.

Intermittent lamp turn off

I was told by the repair service to unplug the power cord for about 5min. This resets the internal computer. I think this helps but does not cure the cause. Good luck.

SONY GRAND WEGA

I have a KDF60XS955. When I power it on, the fan comes on, the standby light flashes green several times, the lamp comes on and the standby light goes to solid green. This lasts for less than 5 seconds then the lamp goes out, followed by ~30 green standby flashes, the lamp coming on with the solid green standby light for about 5 seconds then shuts off the lamp again. I can hear/feel the fan running the enitre time. This cycle continues endlessly. Please help!
