I have a JVC Everio Camcorder, been used for three months. Started couple days ago; I turned on the camcorder, the screen was black, if record or take pictures would be all black too, couldn't see anything. But, review the videos or pictures from before would be fine. And, sometimes the screen said "please check the lans cover".
After I turned the camcorder off for a little while and turned back on; the screen turned back to normal for couple seconds, then slowly turning black again. Don't know what's wrong with the camcorder.

YES!!! I GOT IT!!! Ok so the comp doesn't recognize the damn camera. I went around the problem!!! OOO so excited!!! Ok sooo simple, you'll slap yourself! Ok. First plug in your USB cord to the comp and you'll see the options play on pc, pc connection, etc. Select CREATE DVD! (You won't be able to see or select any of the files you are going to import, oh well.) You should see the regular screen pop up that says import, create, view pictures. Click IMPORT PICTURES. It will automatically import both pictures and video. For file name write something you can easily locate, ex: AAAAAAAAAAAAAA (you can change it later) Then open MOVIE MAKER. Click on IMPORT on the upper left hand corner and you'll see their demo video listed. Click on picture and video files on the bottom right hand corner and select ALL FILES. You should see what was downloaded!!! YAY!! I haven't burn a DVD yet but the files are there and the program should do it from there!

How to convert .MOD file to mpg, avi, wmv and others?
If you got a JVC camcorder, or Panasonic camcorder or Canon MOD camcorder, you would have probably encountered such issue--- what to do with the MOD/TOD files----the God forsaken video format? And you want to convert the recorded .MOD file type to mpeg, avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv or whatever more common, so that you can put them on Youtube, Myspace, Google video and Hulu later on to share the camcorder video with your friends or more people? And there is another headache thing is that most major video editing suites seem to unwillingly accept the MOD/TOD format. Even windows video maker, I have to say it's too complicated to use
Someone successfully made it simply by changing the extension from .mod to mpg, but for most people, they just failed only to find there is no audio after the extension is changed, or the changed one doesn’t allow you to import these files into Windows movie maker, not to mention upload some video to Youtube.com or Facebook.
any alternativs? There is a very simple program that convert .mod NOT ONLY to mpg but many others like avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv, rm, rmvd, mov, dv, mg2 and swf. MOD converter is the one shoot all the trouble. This excellent mod conversion tool is not just a converter but also a video editing tool. From now on, with the MOD converter . you can enjoy your mod video on many media player, even on portable devices like blackberry, Gphone, PSP, Creative Zen,etc.
