There is no frost in the freezer back wall. re: Ge model PSC25MSTASS digital refrigerator setting is set at 37 degrees but refrigerator temperature will not go below at 42 degrees.

re: check damper control. I don't beleive this unit has a damper. It has two separate cooling systems one for the freezer and one for the refrigerator that separates the airflow between the fresh food section and the freeze section during cooling operation.

The refrigerator has two separate cooling systems, one for the freezer and one for the refrigerator, that was the key to solving the problem! That means two cooling fans, one in the freezer and one in the refrigerator. The refrigerator cooling fan was not operating. Replaced the Cover Assembly that contained the fan, Part number WR17X11844.

How do I set the temperature on a true refrigerator model GDM-26EM?

40 degree is a perfect temperature for produce if its lower that stuff will turn brown. Maybe you thermometer has failed. Go to the food store and get a red stick and put it in there. Then adjust with that temperature indication. Hope this helps and good luck.

Refrigerator Tip!

Don't set your refrigerator's temperature too low. The colder it gets the more it costs to run. Set the refrigerator's temperature to between 38 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit (3 to 6 degrees Celcius) and your freezer to between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-17 to -15 degrees Celcius).

GE Prifile model pcf23ng, the refrigerator side was 87 degrees. The dome light was out and very hot. I reset the controls to 37 degrees and it turned on and stabilized to temperature overnight. What caused...

Did you have an electrical storm? If so, may have surged the circuit causing unit to shut down or perform erratically. Also could your refrigerator door have been partly open just a small crack causing the light to stay on and warm air to enter raising the temperature and braking the circuit breaker making the entire unit to shut down and you happened to notice this right after the unit shut down... I say right after because it is difficult to imagine a light bulb that is "out" being "very hot".

How to set fridge temp

    1. The first thing you must know is that your refrigerator should be set at 37-38 degrees. Anything at 40 or higher and you are risking food born illness (food poisoning) or spoiling your food. Place your magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator.

    2. Set your dial on your refrigerator to the second lowest setting. (If your refrigerator is already equipped with a digital thermostat, simply set it for 37 or 38 degrees and do not move on to the next step)

    3. After 2 hours, check your thermometer reading. If your reading is 38 degrees, there is no need to go higher and you are ready to put your groceries in. Be sure not to open and close your refrigerator during these two hours or your temperature reading will be incorrect.

    4. If your reading is higher than 38 degrees, move your dial up to the next coldest setting and repeat the steps every two hours until you reach the correct temperature for your refrigerator.

    5. Once you have reached the correct refrigeration temperature for your refrigerator, place the magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator permanently and watch for changes.

Typically, your refrigerator temperature will need to be adjusted with the seasons, a higher setting in the summer and a lower setting in the winter.

How to set a temperture

Hello,

By keep your refrigerator or freezer too cold, it unnecessarily wastes electricity. The recommended temperature is 37 to 40 degrees for the fresh food compartment of the refrigerator. The recommended temperature for the freezer compartment is 5 degrees. If you have a separate freezer for long-term food storage, it should kept at 0 to -5 degrees.

The following steps below is how to set the temperature of your refrigerator.

The first thing you must know is that your refrigerator should be set at 37-38 degrees. Anything at 40 or higher and you are risking food born illness (food poisoning) or spoiling your food.

Step 2
Place your magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator.

Step 3
Set your dial on your refrigerator to the second lowest setting. (If your refrigerator is already equipped with a digital thermostat, simply set it for 37 or 38 degrees and do not move on to the next step)

Step 4
After 2 hours, check your thermometer reading. If your reading is 38 degrees, there is no need to go higher and you are ready to put your groceries in. Be sure not to open and close your refrigerator during these two hours or your temperature reading will be incorrect.

If your reading is higher than 38 degrees, move your dial up to the next coldest setting and repeat the steps every two hours until you reach the correct temperature for your refrigerator.

Step 5
Once you have reached the correct refrigeration temperature for your refrigerator, place the magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator permanently and watch for changes.

Typically, your refrigerator temperature will need to be adjusted with the seasons, a higher setting in the summer and a lower setting in the winter.

Hope this helpout and take care.

Refrigerator is too cold (28 degrees)

this is likely one of the thermistors on the fresh food side has failed. They are usually located under a small cover inside the fridge. They should have a reading of 15.5k-16.5k ohms at 72 degrees. They are easy to check and replace. Here is a link that should help. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. http://appliancehelponline.com/sxsfreshthermistor.html

My Samsung Refrigerator can not keep the set temperature.

Normally your fridge is set +2 degrees C. with a differential of 3 so when it reaches +5 it should switch back on. if this is not doing this then a new thermostat may be in order.

Whats the correct temperature the fridge should be set at? our milk goes off very quickly and nothing chills.

A refrigerator should be set for a temperature of 37 to 39 degrees F. Refrigerator controls are not usually marked in degrees but have indications for "warmer-cooler". Set the control toward the cooler side and check the temperature. Place a reliable thermometer on a middle shelf to check the temperature. If the refrigerator is not able to maintain a temperature in the 37 to 39 range then the cooling system may need service.
