most tables have a rack and pinion gear that raises and lowers them , if this is tight first ck that lock bolt has not been applied (next to crank handle) if ok then oil it , me i use parafin wax because i only use mine for wood and oil tends to stick the sawdust to it , so i use wax instead

Check for an allen bolt. Open chuck all the way and look inside for an allen bolt some drill presse have gone to this method of attaching the chuck. Hope this helps.

With the motor off, raise the table high enough so you can still get the chuck on the spindle then turn the handle to lower the chuck against the table and press it firmly against the table to wedge the spindle in the chuck.
