Onkyo TX-DS474 Receiver shuts down after Standby mode.

When I turn my receiver on, it enters standby mode normally, then shuts down.

Try no speakers head phones only, that should be ok... now try just 2 speakers. If it shuts down right away then disconect the 2 speakers select the music button and bring it to mono right away as you power up ... you may have to do it a few times as there are about 7 settings (you need too do it fast before it shuts down). If you can get it to mono try one speaker in each channel one by one left front, right front, ect and the last to test is the center, each time making sure that you don't have a single strand grounding out. Now if you get all the way through and it is the center channel then you are where I am hoping that someone smarter than I will walk me through fixing my center channel while in the mean tme I can at least listen to 4 speaker stereo. Let me know if you got the same thing. OH and ONKYO maybe you could chime in and for you gurus I can follow instructions well.
Good Luck and thanks

It's going into a protect mode. The amp is probably shorted out. Disconnect the spkrs and turn it on. If it still shuts off, it's the amp, if not, it's the spkrs.

I have SR 307 onkyo A/V receiver home theatre system. the remote control has stopped working. i checked with a local dealer and that the remote is okay and something has wrong in the receiver,

Did you check the remote with another Onkyo system at the dealer ??. If its OK try resetting the system. Remember you will loose all your stored presets ( FM and customized settings ) and the Amp will go back to factory settings.
While in standby mode hold down the DVD button and press the Standby/On button., the display will show Clear and the Receiver will go into standby mode. Turn it on and try the remote once again.
