Push mower runs then quits!!

If the carb is new, then make sure the fuel is fresh- LESS THAN 30 DAYS OLD!!! Is the plug good? Air filter OK? Good oil in the engine? Make sure that the shut off cable hasn't stretched. It may make contact and shut off the engine.

I think that model may use the Tecumseh engine and carburetor application. Here is a diagram of what your machine (carb/choke and governor) should look like.

Yes you can. The only reason small engines have the primer button/bulb is to get gas to the carburator to make it easier to start it. If your mower starts OK without using the primer bulb you will not harm the mower.

check the linkage for the governor, maybe on the wrong side,when off it should be pushing the throttle wide open, the governor brings it down after start up!

if it is an older machine, yes, the points are underneath the flywheel---it can be removed without a puller---just a little patience will get it off

On many Tecumseh engines, there is a crankcase breather located under the flywheel. It has a cork gasket to seal the top plate of the breather. Either the rubber breather housing is cracked, or the cork gasket needs replaced.

No fuel filter but there is the air filter. Try removing the air filter and starting the mower. If this works replace the air filter. If not, then check the engine's carb. Engine was made by Tecumseh. There aren't many parts to a Tecumseh carb so replacing the few parts (gasket around bowl, float, needle and seat) isn't a lot of trouble.

Go to a tecumseh website and get a breakdown of the parts list and that should help a bit. Good luck.
