Whirlpool regrigerator door auto locks

The refrigerator door on my Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator/freezer keeps auto-locking. If I wait a few minutes it unlocks. Can anyone tell me why this happens?

As far as I'm aware, refrigerator doors don't have auto locks on them. What you're describing sounds like the door has a fantastic seal from a temperature change between the inside of the fridge and the room around it. When there is a drastic change, (usually warm) the refrigerator seal will seem to stick. This will wear off over time, or when the temperature changes.

SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL CONTROL PANEL

Hi. Your temperature control board display is bad. You may also have a power convertor board located next to the compressor. Normally you would replace the temperature control board first. I have a temperature control board listed on Ebay as item number 250211412492. Good luck, Mack

your  problem on this is the main control in the compressor compartment. unplug your refrig then remove this control unplug all connectors and reconnect. this will probably get you working temporarily In almost every case I've seen we ended up replacing the control board. thx peyton

SOURCE: Whirlpool Refrigerator Door Seal surface is HOT.

If the air flow on the condenser under the fridge is too low, the hot gas won't be cooled enough before it goes to the door jamb to stop condensation. Remove the plastic cover under the doors and look at the condenser (tube/wire thing underneath). If it is clogged with fluff, get a vacuum and nozzle and give it a good clean so the air can pass through. Other than that, your condenser fan may have stopped.

Icemaker keeps sending out cubes after let go of switch. Had to lock it off. Now inside of freezer is icing up.

Please check if the freezer door gasket is sealed properly.
By switch do you mean the lever on the front of the door.
Check also the small door where the ice cubes go threw. Make sure it is closed.

There is a constant buzzing noise coming from the lower freezer ice maker. It is producing very few ice cubes. The control bar is down and in proper position to make ice.

Fridge keeps beeping or buzzing: The following is for Frigidaire models but others can be addressed similarly.

Several Frigidaire refrigerator models have an electronic control panel on the freezer door the owner can use to adjust the internal temperature, dispense ice and water and receive notification about issues such as the need to replace a water filter. The refrigerators also emit a beep for various actions and as an occasional alarm. Determining what causes the beeps necessitates some troubleshooting.
Temperature Controls ·A Frigidaire refrigerator's display panel blinks when the control panel is touched to set temperature controls. After pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, press the arrow buttons within five seconds to increase or decrease the desired temperature. If you do not press the arrow buttons within five seconds after pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, the refrigerator beeps to indicate the current setting will stay in place.

Door Open ·When you leave the refrigerator or freezer door open, the refrigerator beeps. Also, the "Door Ajar" indicator illuminates on the appliance's display panel. Shutting the door and pressing "Alarm Reset" stops the beeping and turns off the "Door Ajar" indicator light.
·The Frigidaire refrigerator has a control lock feature that prevents use of its control panel or dispensers when the unit is locked. When the control lock is active, a beep sounds when a keypad or dispenser is pressed. Release the control lock by pressing the "Control Lock" icon for three seconds. A beep will sound, and the icon's light will go out.
Power Reset ·A power reset is occasionally necessary if the Frigidaire refrigerator's control panel does not work normally or a reset function on the keypad does not work. A power reset involves disconnecting power to the refrigerator by unplugging its power cord from the electrical outlet, waiting 30 seconds and plugging the power cord back into the electrical outlet. When the control panel resets, a beep sounds. If the refrigerator beeps even after a power reset and the beeps' source is not known, contact Frigidaire.

Somehow the freezer door became locked and I can't figure out how to unlock it.

There is no lock on your refrigerator for either door. The lock/unlock button is only for the dispenser to keep small children from dispensing ice or water. If your door won't open it could be a few things. First, a package on one of the shelves dropped and is jamming the door on the inside. May require removal of the top hinge so you can tilt the door top forward and look inside to see what happened. Next, you may have one of the door hinges that actually broke and is keeping the door from opening. You will need to look close at both hinges but I would guess the bottom hinge would cause this more that the top since the door weight is all on the bottom hinge. The only thing that holds the doors closed is a magnetic gasket on most side by side models under normal conditions.

Whirlpool 6th sense fridge freezer electronic panel - how do i unlock? child lock not on

Emma:

The lock and unlock feature is accomplished by holding the lock button for 3 seconds, and you will see a count down number just above it that indicates 3, then 2, then 1, and a soft tone along with the lock icon appears. To reverse this hold the same button for 3 seconds following the same procedure and the unlock icon will appear.

It is a side-by-side, and difficult to open the doors, esp. the refrig. side after having opened and closed the freezer door.

Hi, this problem are what we called, vacuum (air) lock, it's not a problem, it means that your door are sealing properly, you should wait 2-4 mins, before opening, doors will open normally, if you give it 2-4 mins, if you try to open door immediately after closing, you will get that sort of vacuum lock, what you could do when it's lock, push something flat between door gasket and ref. body, try not to break gasket, you will hear air releasing, wait few seconds and door will open easily. it.s quite normally for ref. door to air lock, especially when you try to re-enter ref. immediately after closing. it will go away after a while, good luck.

The freezer door seems to be locked - unable to open

The door was not "locked" but frozen shut. The last person at the freezer obviously did not close it properly causing the freezer to work overtime to compensate.

I had left it unplugged for a few hours and as it was well stocked it did not defrost too quickly. I removed the hinge cover and ran a knife around the door seal where it got stuck at the top. Realising what the cause might be, it was brute force and ignorance that got the door open. Lo and behold Santa's bloody Grotto lay before me.

From there on it was a matter of breaking the ice off cleaning it out and replacing the food non of which had been destroyed.
