3. Configuring your Cisco Router If you have just turned on the router, it will be completely unconfigured. If it is already configured, you may want to view its current configuration. Even if it has not been previously configured, you should familiarize yourself with the show commands before beginning to configure the router. Enter privileged mode by issuing the command enable, then issue several show commands to see what they display. Remember, the command show ? will display all the showcommands aavailable in the current mode. Definately try out the following commands:
Router#show interfaces
Router#show ip protocols
Router#show ip route
Router#show ip arp When you enter privileged mode by using the command enable, you are in the top-level mode of privileged mode, also known in this document as "parent mode." It is in this top-level or parent mode that you can display most of the information about the router. As you now know, you do this with the show commands. Here you can learn the configuration of interfaces and whether they are up or down. You can display what IP protocols are in use, such as dynamic routing protocols. You can view the route and ARP tables, and these are just a few of the more important options.
As you configure the router, you will enter various sub-modes to set options, then return to the parent mode to display the results of your commands. You also return to the parent mode to enter other sub-modes. To return to the parent mode, you hit ctrl-z. This puts any commands you have just issued into affect, and returns you to parent mode.

if you need the entire document then you may need to go here as there is no sense in just pasting a lot of additional info that you may not even need, but I will give you the link that explains every possible situation

SOURCE: I would like to configure port fowarding on the CISCO 857 Router

It is possible to configure your router via a web browser. Although it’s disabled by default, your router has its own mini HTTP server built in. This provides another way to gain access to the router for the purpose of issuing commands. To enable the HTTP server, you have to use the command "ip http server" from the global configuration mode.

cisco(config)#ip http server
cisco(config)#

Then open a web browser and point it to one of your router’s IP addresses. The interface is not really nice, but you can issue commands using hyperlinks.
For security reasons I still suggest that you keep the HTTP server turned off, since it offers just another point of access for potential hacking.

What is so bad about the command line? Configuring port forwarding is actually pretty easy, once you know the commands.

Type show ip interface to find the name of the interface you want to set port forwarding for.

The show ip nat translations command shows you the current port forwards on Router.

Type configure to enter the configuration mode
The command for port forwarding is: ip nat inside source static (TCPorUDP) (YourComputersIP) (PortToForward) interface (name)(PortToForward)

in you case:
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.0.1 5900 interface (name) 5900
and
ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.0.2 5901 interface (name) 5901
replace (name) with the interface name you got from the first command.

Then press CTRL-Z to end the Configure Session
Type copy run start once you tested your settings and press ENTER for the question Destination filename [startup-config]?

I have heard of some commercial tools that let you configure your router via web interface, but they are very expensive (around 1400$).
You can try it out for 14 days. Go here.
If you want to play with a free one, go to Cisco (link) and check it out. (You have to be a member though.)

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

SOURCE: Point to Point T1 Using Cisco 2800 Routers?

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Cisco E3200 router configuration lost

The Cisco connect software came on the CD in the box with the router. If was used to configure the router when new. This can be used to fix the router now. I could guide you through a manual configuration but the software is a much faster easier method. I would recommend you try that route. Get the CD and run from there if you are worried about phishing.

I forgot to change the default public credential User: cisco and pwd: cisco. Un fortunately I did restart the router. I would like your assistance to gain access to the router or to reset it back to...

Here is a cisco page that goes over the password recovery procedure. Once you reset the credentials, you can make any configuration changes needed. You will also have the option to keep the existing configuration in place but change the password, if the configuration has any use to you.

Router configuration

What's the model number and brand of that router. It's odd if it doesn't have a default IP address. Most routers have default IP. I guess its a Cisco router? If its a Cisco router, it requires a technical person who knows how to configure a Cisco router. Or I'm thinking that it's an Access Point.

Help me plz

cisco routers make use of an IOS software for configurations.

you have to connect the router to a computer system through an hyper terminal program in order to access the router command interface, there is no way you will be able to configure this router without having cisco configurations knowledge.

the steps could be complex/complecated for a novice.but all the same,

after running the hyper terminal program on your computer to connect the router(start-accessories-communication-hyper terminal) make sure you use cisco serial cable or a cat5e roll over cable.

press the enter key once and type 'enable' then press enter,

configure terminal,to take you to a global configuration mode.

i will advice that you should contact a cisco person in your area for help

Router cannot get IP with cisco 675 modem

Hi,

The issue may be due to the existence of two (2) DHCP servers; 1 in the Cisco 675 and the 2nd in the DLink DI-524. You need to disable the Cisco's DHCP server function and assign static IP add & config to the DLink WAN config. This way it will only be the DLink handing out IP adds to the network.

The workaround. Install your original configuration/setting without the DLink DI-524 - PC direct to the Cisco 675 (I am assuming through Ethernet ports). Verify that indeed you are connected to the Internet and can surf the net, check e-mails, etc. Check your Networking Connection Status. Log down your PC's IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS. For purposes of discussion, let's call this "N1".

After your Internet connection has been verified with your PC directly connected to the Cisco, remove the direct connection and connect the DLink DI-524 in between the Cisco router and your PC.

Log in to the DLink and modify WAN parameters using the "N1" configurations/settings.

It might be of help to disable any security (WEP WPA, MAC etc) at least while configuring.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
