My drive may have shorted out

Drive was performing a system backup and save of system image when it suddenly stopped responding. Checked to see if it was the usb cable and/or the ac adapter but the cable works fine with my other devices and the power is running through the ac adapter no problem, the blue LED is not turning back on and the drive is not responding to any of the computers I have hooked it up to.

SOURCE: Hard drive not mounting

If you still have the files on your pc and just use the drive as a backup, then there is nothing lost yet, and no need to recover, just return to retailer. But if there is any sign of life, check; Right Click My Computer>Properties>Device Manager>Hardware, see if your Drive is in the list, if not, on top right there is an icon for scan for new hardware. See if your PC can find your drive, if not return it.

SOURCE: My Computer does not show: Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 500 GB external USB hard drive

Well i got a simple 320 gb external hard drive, and since the first month i had problems, i solve the recovery issue by opening the hard drive, and find it out, the inside was broken, and it got unplugged. so plugged it back and got my info. if your data its more important than 200dlls or less break the thing open, because if you claim the warranty they are not responsible for your information.

How do i clone my hard drive onto an external hard drive

Are you using Windows? If you are using Windows, go to Start => Programs => Accessories => System Tools => Backup. In the backup wizard that opens, choose which backup type you want and you can choose your backup destination. Choose your Seagate Expansion external drive for your backup location so that Windows can store an image of your current system into your external drive.

Acer 4520 Dead, Blank screen , No response...

It sounds like something on the motherboard has possibly shorted out. That can range from the CPU to RAM to the DVD. If it's still under warranty I would suggest sending it in for repair.

If you do send it in, please let them know to backup your harddrive if they have to reformat and restore it for any reason. Your important files are still there and safe.

I am unable to copy hard drive c onto simpletech

Unfortunately you can not perform a straight drag and drop from a boot drive. The best option for the preservation of all your data, as well as being much faster, would be to utilize backup software such as Acronis TrueImage Home:

http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/

Using the link above you can download a 15 day full feature trial which will allow you to create a backup image (with many options available) of your current C: drive to the media of your choice.

Ghost array0 over to newly setup array1 problems

I should assume the CD drive is SCSI? What sequence is it set to come up in? Set it at 2 if possible. Have you checked, or better yet replaced the CD drive? Will it boot with ANYTHING else?
That Hiren's CD is not uuummm, kosher? People having problems booting with it and all, plus the utilities may not have full function anyway. No matter what, you will need to f/disk the destination drive. You will still need the CD drive to install the program too.
Backup software will still make an exact copy of your drive also. You might want to consider a little better product, especially concerning disaster recovery. not to get off topic but, a quote from J. Bolton on backup & recovery
"What will you do if a user overwrites a 1000page doc with a blank file with the same name? What will you do if one of multiple server apps goes bonkers? If the mainboard dies how will imaging get your system back? Do you stock a spare board so the image restore will work on the exact same hardware? After a system crash, Acronis True Image Enterprise Server allows you to perform a full system restore, a bare-metal restore or just a restore of individual files and folders.
Complete system restoration can be performed to an existing system, to a new system with different hardware or to a virtual machine. You could setup a whole new system and dump the image on that.
