No washing i have a maytag pav2300aww washing machione its a few years old.on my last wash it will fill up with water but thats all? i am thinking its the timer because it clicks sometimes i took the panel off where its sits and i smelled like wire burning? i looked under the unit to see if the belt was intack and it was. the inside will turn by hand. could it be the motor? or timer?

If it was the bearing it should be leaking water out the bottom! It is more than likely the water pump. The seal in the pump drops down and then makes noise. The pump should be in rear. tilt machine back remove belt then try turning the pump by hand if tight replace.

sounds like you are having a syphoning issue. caused by having the drain hose too far down the home standpipe. very common problem. test..fill the machine, high water level. when it stops filling turn off. advance into spin/drain for just a moment and shut off. listen to hear water still going down the drain.
repair.. raise the drain hose nearer the top of the stand pipe. also do not tape/seal the hose into standpipe. it has to breath. good luck. kihm washing machine drain hose installation Google Search

There is alot of oil in a transmission it could last another 4 or 5 years. the only problem is the oil eats the belts up.

The problem is simple and easy to fix. Your washer has a tubing which runs from the base of the tub to the water pressure switch. It might have vibrated loose from the switch, or their can be some sediment in the tub. Blow out the tubing and reattach it securely to the switch and pump out the water in the tub. switch the hoses fill hoses and if no hot enters you have a defective inlet vavle,,replace...onthejob

Why did you change the hoses with old ones?
If you are going to change them use new ones!
Sounds like the drain hose connection to the washer is not tight or not secured, or not fitting th connection because it is from a different washing machine.
Or there is a hole in the inner tub and leaking out on the floor.
Do you know the ones that sold it to you?

In yor machine control panel you have A part called a pressure switch or water level switch. that controls the water level and tells the timer to start aggitating .If the part is bad the machine will over fill and keep running the water!!

this is a problem with these machiones. its drum rides on a ball and socket setup. with a plastic ring it rides on to cause the resistance when spinning. also centerd with big springs. its a job to replace . i would get about 200.00 to due.

if you use machine a lot then after another few years same thing again. poor design i think.

• tilt the machine over and look at the bottom. the belt is there.
  
• it will feel loose but that is normal. it is spring tensioned.
• the noise is probably coming from the water pump, when they are bad they make a loud noise.
•  turn the pulley around a couple times to see where the noise is coming from.
