Z500 Spirit treadmill shows a L5 code after it stops. The treadmill appears to start OK, but then stops after starting on the slower speed. What does L5 mean? Maintenance guys from the place we bought it wants to charge at least $80 labor. Can this charge be avoided?
Hi,
LS mean low speed error, Please check the sensor wire( if moor move). if not move please check control board.
hi, LS means low speed Err , Please replace sensor if motor move few min or replace the control board
sada
please replace the speed sensor
l5 Means that the machine is not getting a signal that there is movement, ie the speed sensor is not picking up correctly. Move the sensor, ie slide it closer to the wheel. This worked for me

SOURCE: new free spirit treadmill - L5 code what does it mean?
Yeah - the sensor is the problem... It is magnetic... You can find it next to the wheel on the belt - It is fairly small.... There is a metal disc in the wheell on the belt that is a magnet.. As it passes by the sensor - the sensor registers the magnet and can simply calculate speed based on the frequency of the passes... Sometimes the sensor slides too far back and ergo can`t register the magnet passing by - Then you get the L5 error...

SOURCE: Landice L7 gives me a L5 reading on the screen
Your L7 error looks like L5 , but its really LS which mean lost signal. Unplug unit take motor shroud off then plug unit back in wall outlet. When looking in front unit you will see a Motor control board and there are LED lit up one of them should be an amber light this is you speed sensor which is attached to the top of your motor. Manually rotate the fly wheel and see if that light flickers if it does then your speed sensor is working properly if not replace speed sensor. The next thing to look at is the motor brushes to if they are worn unplug unit you should see slitted caps on both side of motor remove them if they are less than 3/8" they need replacing. That for the most parts should take of your problem. Call Landice @ 1800-526-3423 have the serial# handy their on all the components in the unit
