My garage door opener won't close the garage door, the lights blink on and off everytime I try to press it to close it. It opens the garage door fine but it just won't close. It only closes with the wall button. On the sensors one has a green light and the other has a yellow light. There is nothing obstructing the sensors. Please help this has been going on since December.
Mine does the same except that even the wall pad doesn't work when I try to close it. I have to hold it down while it closes. I can't get it to close at all with the wireless remote, even if I hold it down. I don't have a manual for this and I can't figure out why it does this!Mine does the same except that even the wall pad doesn't work when I try to close it. I have to hold it down while it closes. The green sensor light is off most of the time. Every once in a while it comes on and everything works fine. When it is off, I also need to hold down the garage door button to get the door closed. The remotes will not work that way. I,m thinking maybe the sensor needs to be replaced, even though it is only about four years old. Sometimes it comes on with an un-steady light green. The door will not close then, either. The green sensor light is off most of the time. Every once in a while it comes on and everything works fine. Most likely your door sensors have been bumped and are not aligned properly. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking.

refer to instructions that came with opener, or go on line and download it it or count number of blinks and use genie's trouble shooting page. The number of blinks is the trouble code. Now before you do all of this get down on floor and check for the light in each sensor, they both should be lit if not then correct this. Sensors fail, inspect the sensor wiring on back of opener. You can buy sensors at HD or Lowe's. good luck
Three blinking lights & door won't close by Candi
(Winston-Salem, NC)
Garage door will not open and close with remotes. Three blinking lights occur when we try to close door. What does this mean? It is a Linear unit.
I will assume you mean that your garage door will open with your remote but will not close. It should close if you press and hold the wall control button until the door is fully closed.
If that is the case, the 3 blinking lights indicate that your garage door's infrared safety beams are not properly aligned.
1) Check that the operator has power. The green lights on the sender and receiver should be lit.
2) If the receiver's green light is on, but the red light is off, the receiver has power but is not detecting the infrared beam from the sender. The red light might flash when the beam is partially detected. This can be caused by
mis-alignment or something blocking the beam.
Adjust the safety beam sender and receiver while watching the receiver's red light (stay out of the beam while aligning it). When the red light stays on, the beam is aligned and your garage door should operate normally.

NOTE: If the receiver's red light remains off, check for:
1) Dirt on the receiver's lens,
2) Sunlight shining into the receiver's lens,
3) A short in the safety beam wiring (from staples or at the operator terminals).

Remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear just in front of the motor. It will be obvious if it is bad. Tell me - if it won't open how do you know it won't close?
The code you are seeing with 5 blinks is "RPM sensor or motor overload." We can eliminate the motor overload because the door is trying to close. The RPM sensor is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor. It's a snap to replace and is available at any good door opener company. They will know exactly what you are talking about if you ask for an RPM sensor board.
If the small light in your wall control is blinking it is in the lock mode. Press and hold for 3 seconds the button with the icon of a lock. This will toggle the lock function off.
Stuck remote control button. Check all remotes. check LED on receiver.
Staples around Multi-Function Control Panel bell wire could be cutting into that wire. Remove wires from opener and test. Replace staples causing intermittent short.
Multi-Function Control Panel could have sticking door control push bar. Remove wires from control panel and test. Replace control panel if defective.
My garage door opener will start to close then stop and go back to the open position. If I put pressure on the door as it is closing sometimes it will close all the way and sometimes it will return to the open position. Can you help me. Thanks [email protected]
