Laptop screen keeps going fuzzy!

Hi. I have a advent 7106 laptop, the screen keeps going fuzzy and fades into lines. But if I mess around with the position of the screen it goes back to normal, isit possible for there to be some kind of loose connection between the screen and whatever? If anyone has any ideas of what it could be, how much I should expect it to me etc, it'll be appreciated! Thanks!

The display connector contact on the motherboard is loose. If you can open the casing, you'll see a ribbon cable from the LCD part connecting to the motherboard. The connector is usually rectangular and connects downwards. Try pressing it in firmly.

Advent Problems

I am assuming you are using Windows XP for this solution,
Go to 'start', click on 'Connect To'. If another menu comes up to the left of this then right click on 'Wireless Network Connection' and click 'Enable'.
If a window opens up then the solution is the same process as above.

If this is already enabled then you may need to reinstall the driver go to Advent's website and search for your model number

Fuzzy line going right down right side of Sony Laptop VGN-CS26g

The pixels inside of the LCD are going bad. Your screen is going to need to be replaced. When pixels in screens go bad it usually turns colors or gets fuzzy after it heats up.

White screen appears, Screen turns fuzzy intermittently

To determine if the video card is faulty or the LCD screen, connect an external monitor to the laptop. Power up the monitor first and then the laptop. The video will automatically switch to the monitor. If you see a normal Windows image the the video card os OK.
The next thing is to reseat the video cable and if this doesn't fix the problem then the fault is the LCD screen.

Laptop with Fuzzy Screen

It sounds like your video card is overheating.

Try getting one of the laptop coolers from bestbuy or other store. They separate the laptop from the table, allowing more air to flow and cool it. The good ones even have a fan to help it.

Good luck!

I dropped my laptop and now the screen is messed up.

Ack. Sounds like you might need to replace your screen (sounds pricey but is cheaper than a new laptop). You can find second hand/refurbished screens or another Aspire with a working screen being sold for parts on Ebay or here

On a side note, if you a have a PC monitor lying around, you can access your files by hooking it up to your laptop via the dvi slot. Granted, it seems a bit ghetto but its a quick fix until you get something more permanent.

I recently broke my iPhone screen and completely shattered a dell laptop a few years ago. You know all those people who are adamant about you buying proper carrying/protective cases? Screw 'em.
