When you say you were able to connect to the switch through hyperterm, were you able to login with the enable password? If not, you cannot reset the factory defaults without the enable password. If you do not have this then search on Cisco's site for password recovery for your model switch. If you did login with the enable password, the command to run for CATos is "clear config all". For Cisco IOS, you have the right command with "write erase". When you issue that command, do you get a "Erase of nvram: complete " or an error? Are you issuing the "reload" command after a successful erase? Be sure you answer No when it asks "System configuration has been modified. Save? [yes/no]:" as sometimes this seems misleading and some people think they mean to save the reloaded default. They are really warning you that you are about to loose the old configuration and attempting to prevent you from accidently erasing it. So answer "no". After a successful reload of the IOS you should also clear any VLAN information. To do this, issue "delete flash:vlan.dat" and then do another "reload".

I bought a cisco valet router used and do not know the password , how do I change the password

On the back of the router is a reset button. Press that in for 5-10 seconds. It will reset to factory specs. Once you reset the Valet Hotspot, all of its customized settings (network name, wireless security, etc.) will be erased and the hotspot's IP address will be reverted back to 192.168.1.1, with a default password of admin and no username.

What do I do if I forgot my password?

Well, if you forgot your password, you will need to completely reset the device to factory settings. There should be a recessed button on the back that is only accessible with a pin or paperclip. Press that and it will reset all of the settings to default.

Can get router to work

The Cisco Aironet 1200 access point provides secure wireless connection to your network. Cisco's wireless access design meet the needs of a small to medium size business.

This unit provides secure network access for laptops or Wi-Fi capable portable devices, which you upgrade at any time as your business grows.

A beneficial feature of the Cisco Aironet 1200 is its ability for the administrator to reset the access point remotely.

This resetting process works through your internet browser.
Log on to the System Configuration page by entering your Cisco Airnet 1200 IP address in your browsers web address text box.

Enter your user and password information from the pop up menu.
Click on the "Setup" button from the summary status page.

Select the "Cisco Services" setup option and click on "Manage System Configuration."
Click on "Reset All System Factory Defaults" to reset the router.

The Cisco Aironet 1200 will be restored to factory defaults.

Forgot guest pw on cisco e2500

If a password was set by user, no one else will know it if you forget it.
If the password needs to be reset to factory, so you can log in with the "default" password AND RE-SETUP EVERYTHING, then you'll need to reset the Linksys E2500 to factory defaults. You can usually do that via a special button or sequence of actions.
The E2500 manual will have specific directions for performing a factory default reset. You can download the manual for the E2500 from http://support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/E2500

Default password for a Cisco SG200-26? cisco, cisco do not work .. ??

I had the same issue after what I thought was a succesful reset. It turns out I hadn't reset the switch completely. There is a reset pin hole next to the power switch. Hold it in with a paper clip for at least 30 seconds. ( I was holding in the power button for 30 seconds.)Then you can use the cisco admin and cisco for password defaults. Hope this helps someone in the future since I spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME on it :)

My Cisco IP Phone 7945G keeps rebooting after I did a factory reset. Is there a way to fix this?

According to Cisco, when initiating a factory reset procedure certain information from the IP phone is erased while other information is reset to the factory default value, as shown in the list below:

Information Erased:
  • CTL File (Certificate Trust List)
  • LSC File (Locally Significant Certificate)
  • IP Phone Call History (Calls Received, Placed, Missed etc)
  • Phone application
Information Reset to Default:
  • User configuration settings (ring tone, screen brightness, sound levels etc)
  • Network configuration settings

t is highly advisable to follow the firmware upgrade procedure in a non-working environment to ensure other phones are not affected (in case of an accidental reboot), and to avoid the freshly factory reset ip phones obtaining the working environment's settings.

Please use the link below and follow the instruction http://www.firewall.cx/downloads/cisco-tools-a-applications/cisco-ip-phone-a-ata-firmware-downloads.html

To Factory reset your router you need to locate the Reset Button at the back of the router. The Reset Button is the small hole at the back and you need a Pen or a Paperclip to press it. Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds. Make sure that the router is on when you reset it.

Go to the Cisco site and download Network magic. You can use the basic version free. It has a network map that shows you everything on your network. It will give you a full version on a trial basis, but after that you can continue to use the basic.
