H/p is for headphone. It automatically turn the speakers of when headphones are used. Might have a bad connection on the head phone jack board, or your 1yr old put some thing metal in the jack. Try using a head phones.

Did you try to reset the unit? Resetting the unit has fixed every problem I have ever had......turn off unit.....hold down A+B at the same time then turn the unit back on...hold buttons for roughly 3 seconds....Let me know if it works.

Receiver cuts inself off about 15 seconds after you turn it on

you need to check your speakers connections to make sure nothing is touching and all is connected right and not to have to many spkrs on the channels, also only have the skrs on that you are using, make sure zone 2 / 3 are off and multi volm is turned down

When i power on the device, it comes on but goes off about 5 seconds later.

Hi...

1st thing to check is for GOOD speaker connections at both ends
and not mixing A and B speaker wiring.

A Denon is usually a good brand. Might be worth servicing if need be.

Denon AVR-3802 Problem

Check that your speaker cables are not touching each other at the amp end and also at the speakers as this will cause the amp to shut down.

hope this helps.

Power won't stay on

This could be a major problem in the power transistors or closely related. Recommend service by a technician

No sound

1. check if the amp is in PROTECTION mode (might be a bad speaker or shorted output)
2. check the 'MUTE' switch
3. try to use the FM/AM mode to isolate an input source. If there is sound then check input source.
4. ...still no sound have a techinician check it.

Powers turns on then off

See: http://www.denon.ca/hapdfs/avr2105mane.pdf, page 72. In my case, the problem was a connector between my receiver and television. I unplugged it from my receiver and it now works.
