It's turning but won't start. Have power.

Clean the carburetor and add a fuel cleaning additive to the tank. That should do it. Your alternator should be fine, but get that checked if the other suggestions don't work.

You don't say what kind of vehicle we are talking about, but it is safe to assume your ignition switch needs to be replaced.

GMC 2000 sierra pick up 1500 sounds like it wants to start but won't turn over. Battery sounds good so I guess battery and alternator are ok. For several years fuel gauge doesn't work and...

It sure could be. But, first...by "won't turn over" you do mean it cranks at normal speed but won't start?
A simple test of the fuel pump is to stand by tank and listen as someone turns key to on. When first turned to on, your pump will activate for 2 or 3 seconds, pressurizing the fuel system, and then shut off if the engine computer doesn't get a cranking signal. Do you hear it come on? If not, then something's not turning your pump on. If you can hear it buzz on briefly, then maybe it's your filter. Another test: Spray a little starting fluid into your intake manifold (remove the big hose going into intake manifold) while someone tries starting it.If it doesn't fire and try to stay running, then it's probably an ignition problem. But if it does fire off, then you know it's a fuel problem-likely your pump or filter. good luck.

1995 geo tracker won't start. I've replaced everything except the ignition switch. It used to click when i turn the key, now it won't even click.

DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY AND RECONNECT, THIS SHOULD RESET THE BRAIN.

ALSO...WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY, LISTEN TO HEAR IF YOU CAN HEAR THE FUEL PUMP COME ON...IF NOT, GUESS WHAT? HOPEFULLY NOT!... BUT,YOU MAY NEED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, IF YOU CAN'T HEAR IT WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY, AFTER YOU'VE RESET THE BATTERY!

HOPE THIS HELPS!

1998 Jeep grand cherokee Laredo turning over but won't start. It sounds like it wants to start but just won't power into it. We changed spark plugs w/in last year, brand new battery, the alternator...

When it sounds like it wants to start but won't, it is almost always a fuel problem. When you first turn on the ignition key (radio off, in a quiet setting) do you hear a faint 'hum' from the rear of the car? If so, your fuel pump is probably alright, so the next check it to remove the small, light green plastic cap (it might be black, about the size of a tire valve cap) on the top of the engine-it is part of the fuel rail and has a small pin in the center of it. With a rag in your hand, hold it over the valve, and with the key on, use a small screw driver and push the pin in-the rag will keep you from getting sprayed, if all is alright, but if you get little or nothing, you have a problem with your fuel pump, filter, fuel regulator or you may have a plugged 'sock' at the bottom of the tank.
