Manual Dehumidifier does not turn on. It is plugged in to a working outlet. The tray is empty. There is a hose, at the back of the unit, going into a sump pump. This dehumidifier came with the house so I don't know its working history. My questions are: "Should I buy a new one?" or "Is there a switch somewhere that I have not found?"

SOURCE: Connecting a drain hose

Most units have a drain connection, either on the machine itself, or in the collection pail. These connections usually fit standard garden hoses.

SOURCE: runs, but overheated, tripped outlet causing freezer full of rotten food

There was a recall on these - it depends on the age.  I bought mine in 2003 or 2004, and they sent a repairman out to replace a circuit board.  Call Maytag to see if yours was in the recall.

Dehumidifier norpe keeps going on and off

If your Norpole dehumidifier is repeatedly starting and stopping, it could indicate a problem that needs to be addressed. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the humidity settings: Ensure that the humidity level set on the dehumidifier is reasonable and not too low. If the desired humidity level is already reached, the dehumidifier may turn off until the humidity rises again.
  2. Clean the air filter: A dirty or clogged air filter can restrict airflow and cause the dehumidifier to overheat. Turn off the dehumidifier, unplug it, and locate the air filter. Remove the filter and clean it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling it.
  3. Check the water collection bucket: If the water collection bucket is full, the dehumidifier may automatically shut off. Empty the bucket and ensure it is properly positioned back into the unit.
  4. Verify the drainage system: If your dehumidifier is equipped with a continuous drainage option, make sure the drainage hose is properly connected and not clogged. If the drainage hose is obstructed or improperly installed, it can cause the dehumidifier to turn on and off.
  5. Ensure proper ventilation: Make sure the dehumidifier is placed in a well-ventilated area. Restricted airflow around the unit can lead to overheating, triggering the auto shut-off feature.
  6. Power supply issues: Check the power cord and make sure it is securely plugged into a functioning power outlet. Also, ensure there are no issues with the circuit breaker or electrical supply.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to consult the user manual or contact Norpole customer support for further assistance. They will be able to provide more specific troubleshooting steps or advise on potential repairs or service options.

Why is water going to the bucket instead of getting pumped out the hose? Does this mean the pump has quick working?

It is possible that the drain hose is not properly positioned. It is very fussy about that. Here is a link to the manual on PDF. See pages 8 thru 12.

The float is broken in our dehumidifier, is it repairable?

Is the float in the empty or full position?? If it is in the empty position, and the unit will run normally, then yes you can. The water will divert from the evap tray right into the hose. If it is stuck in the full position, and wont run because it thinks it's full, you will have to find a way to put and hold it in the empty position.

Haier dehumidifier will not power on

Turn the ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the unit for 15 minutes.
Once the time has elapsed, plug the unit in and turn the unit ON.

Hopefully, during that 15 minute timeout, the electronics reset and reverted back to the original factory settings. And the unit will turn ON when you press the ON/OFF Switch.

It's also a good idea to check the outlet it's plugged into. It very well could be an issue with the outlet (no power) or the circuit breaker for that outlet has tripped.

If you continue to have a problem getting it started, contact LG Customer Support 1-800-243-0000.

Hose connected but not draining and bucket filling

I am also an air conditioning tech, with same problem and same soleus dehumidifier problem. you must remove the plug and install the drain line hose adapter. Hose must lay flat and have no "hills" for water to drain. With this done pull your drain pan out and set aside. look under right side facing the dehumidifier and you will see a small spout. Has a lip like a little tea pot. Plug that spout. I used a foam ear plug used in work shops. Now give the front of dehumidifier a slight rise on front wheels about the thickness of a pies of cardboard 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch. Now put drain pan back in an start up. The problem is the drain pan was made with very little differance in pitch between the the hose drain and the bucket drain. Remember to check your drain hose periodically and the air filter also. Good luck

I cannot find my manual for the Westpointe dehumidifier. I need to know how to fix it so that it uses a drain instead of the tank. It is set up with the hose which is directed to a drain. However, I...

Make sure the hose is clear. Did you put a hole in the attaching place for the hose? Most tanks come with no hole even though there is a hose place in the tank.

Need manual for fedder dehumidifer to hook up drain hose. need to know were drain hose connects.

Pull out the water collection tray. You will see a small pipe (about 1/2" diameter) in the top of the area where the tray came from. This is the "drain" that fills the tray. Connect a hose to this pipe and run the hose to a floor drain if you have one. I used a section from an old garden hose for my unit. There also may be a small opening in the back wall of the dehumidifier to route the hose more aesthetically.

Danby continuous water flow will not work on a dehumidifier it still fills the bucket

Please try the following:
1) Remove the bucket.
2) You will notice a round outlet/spout where the water drips from into the bucket.
3) Remove the plug from the backside of the unit (you will now see a hole to the bucket area).
4) Feed a hose through the hole from the back and attach the end of the hose to the round outlet/spout.
5) Place the other end of the hose on a floor drain outlet.
6) Put the bucket back into the unit.

When the unit is turned on, the water will now flow through the hose instead (into the floor drain). When you want to use the bucket again to capture the water, you will need to remove the hose.

I hope that helps.

I have a Kenmore 54501 dehumidifier

hi,

somewhere there is a "knockout" or "plug" or something similar you have to remove or replace it to get it to drain through the hose, there should be some documentation in the owners manual about it, try troubleshooting in the back of the manual. If not look directly into the hose outlet and see if theres a plastic plug there, if there is use a screwdriver or something similar to GENTLY remove the plug, you may have to just study the machine when its running to get a better idea of how the water drains, maybe the machine came with something like it in one of the plastic bags the accessories came in.

good luck

My direct drain doesn't work anymore

I fixed the same problem, finally. At first it was sufficient to clean the outside hose (it was filled with a **** builtup). Then it stopped working again. I decided to open the unit and see how easy it is to clean the inside drain hose. It is very easy. Once you unscrew the back panel (8 screws total if i remember correctly) you can access the back and you see the drain hose that connects to the drain outlet. To remove it and clean it, you will have to unfasten the big capacitor (3 screws). Then, remove the hose and clean it (mine was full of that same **** stuff). Reinstall - you will need a tie wrap to connect the hose at the top, as it is from the factory. Very easy operation and now the dehumidifier is draining again.
