I have a Maytag Model PY2300AYW Dryer and the heating element is heating red hot and melting my clothes. Just wanted to know what you thought I need to do to fix it. New element?

No the first thing I would check is the vent going outside may be cloged the air going across the heating element should keep it from glowing real bright

What will cause my maytag dryer to throw the breaker when i try to start it

Not a dryer pro but if the dryer is on a circuit that's already loaded up, or is overloading your current one (amps wise) that could cause it, and especially if the breaker is weak. Could be shorted capacitor or drive motor, or heating coil short situation. (wire melts, ends up shorting against housing). If the breaker checks out, suspect the heater element next, motor last, I'd say. Good luck. Maytag Dryer Trips Breaker

How do i get dryer apart to get to heating element model mde308 dayw

unplug dryer, move out from wall so you can get to the back. use a 1/4" nut driver and remove the rear panel. The heater element is on the bottom right. before replacing check for continuity. if the heater has continuity, check all of the other componets on the rear of the dryer. i would advise to check the small white thing with 2 wires connected.

I am trying to take the back off of my Whirlpool clothes dryer model LEQ8611LW1 to replace the heating element, but the back will not come off. How do I get to the heating element?

The dryer doesn't have a removable rear access panel and the heating element is accessible through the bottom front panel. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, locate and release the two bottom front panel clips approximately 4 inches from the sides.

Once the panel is off, locate the heating element housing is on the right side and remove the hex-head screw from the heater shield.

Remove the hex-head screw from the side of the heater housing and slide the heating element out then slide the new heating element in and secure it with the hex-head screw.

Note:

The heating element is not necessarily busted and needs to be replaced when the dryer fails to heat up. The first thing to look at is the thermal cut-off. It blows open and cut power to the heating element if the high-limit thermostat is faulty. Disconnect the red wire from the thermal cut-off and the red/white stripe wire from the heater. Connect the red wire disconnected from the thermal cut-off to the heater terminal where the red/white stripe wire is disconnected from.

Reconnect power then start the dryer. The problem is indeed with the two bypassed components if the dryer heats up. Replace both the thermal cut-off and the high-limit thermostat and it should solve the heating problem. Do not use the dryer with those parts bypassed due to high risk of fire hazards.

My maytag neptune dryer doesn't blow any hot air

on top of the heating element on the left side there is a white 2connector part, that is the heater thermal fuse. disconnect the dryer power cord and one wire of the thermal fuse and use a meter to find out if you have continuity to it. if not replace it. also check for burn wires at heating element. also test heating element by disconnecting one wire and using an ohm meter test it at 2 therminals. it shoul measure 10-12 ohms.

My maytag dryer heating element gets hot but motor will not run

Sounds like you have something shorted out.

The element issue could be a contact fused shut.
With both problems I would be looking for wires melted together, or a relay/sequencer welded shut melted etc.

You do have a potential fire hazzard here. If after removing the panel you cannot locate the problem, do not run the unit.

Maytag electric dryer will not run

belt around the drum is broken. The light you see is the glow of the heating element. No air flow will cause heater to get red hot. Danger!

Put in a new heating element,no hot air

now that you replace the heater you should be able to check the thermal fuse and possibly the high limit thermostat. both mounted right by the heater assy, if open(no continuity) on either of them yo will get no heat. also first check your incoming power. you MUST have installed on rear into the terminal block and-in this order(black and red can be switched but white MUST be in middle. RED(110v), WHITE(nuetral), BLACK(110v). black to white 110v, red to white 110v, and then black to red should measure at least 220,
