Windows xp on Gateway MT6723 laptop

I'm trying to install windows xp on a Gateway MT6723 laptop. I know for a fact that people have done it, just not sure exactly how. If they are slipstreaming SATA drivers to the xp disk I need to know exactly what driver to use and how to do it. I've already been given tons of hypothetical solutions from people who have ideas about how to do it but have not actually done it on this machine, so please only tell me what to do if you have actually tried it on this model.

Yeah that's exactly my problem, sorry I didn't specify. I have tried to look a SATA option in my bios but it looks as if my machine's bios can't do this... There simply are no options pertaining to SATA or IDE or anything like that in my bios.

Are you trying to install Windows XP on your laptop that has a SATA drive in the laptop?
And during the Windows XP install it cannot find a hard drive?
The reason why Windows install does not work is because Windows XP does not have a SATA driver support and therefore cannot find the hard disk.
THE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM.
Go into your BIOS and turn off Native SATA support or set it to IDE controller (this setting depends on the type of BIOS). Save the setting and reboot and you will be able to install Windows XP.

Go to the Gateway's WEB site and see if there is a sata driver that you can download and put on a floppy or CD to use during the Windows install. If I remember correctly, when you begin the Windows install you are given a chance to install a 3rd party driver instead of the Windows IDE driver.

How do I factory reset Gateway laptop

Do you still have your recovery discs and installation discs?

If so, save any documents, pics, bookmarks, and so on, to an external hard drive or CD's and then insert the installation disc and shut down the computer. Then you can go several different ways.

If your dvd-rom is set as first boot you can start in that way.

If not, you can continually hit F8 on startup to get a black page to do repair and start the CD that way.

Technically, you can put the CD in as it's on and tell it to do a new install.

Whatever you do, if you have stuff you want saved, do it before putting that disc in!

Laptop will not turn on

The hard drive is dead. Replace the hard drive, add an OS like Linux (free) and away you go. Next time don't buy a computer from someone you don't know.

My Gateway MX6956 Laptop kinda deleted windows on me. I guess I had a virus and it deleted it self. Now when i try to redownload windows, installation says that there is no hard drive to download it on...

no OS stated and is infected, sure.
no answers possible ever.
buy w7 from Microsoft and load it.
"Now when i try to redownload windows"

what does that mean, and what windows version.
install media it is called now.
and comes in only these forms not once stated by you.
let me guess, (is fact) it is 13 years old today 2005 made
and did have XP on it , the virus magnet from H3LL it is.
so is it still stinky rotten XP and you are the last person on earth using XP>? seems so, right?

XP also hates SATA chip. HDD SATA ports are dead
with the installer, and is tricky F6, mode, floppy drive , to install the working driver,
so that is true or the IDE HDD is dead.
your hdd is SATA disk I looked it up.
and most XP boot media can not see it.
only Gate way media works here.

buy W7 and install that. is the best cure.
in dog years this PC is 91 years old, we retire them that old.
all of them. next will be dead LCD back lamps.
