There should be two screw slots on the side/end of the lifter motor unit.
One is for how much force to close, the other how far down it comes.
Adjust the one for how far down it goes.

Erratic garage door opener

It is an adjustment problem. Any obstruction and the door goes up again. So try adjusting again but don't leave space to invite rodents that will cause damage to car wiring. I am just going thru that.

Garage door touches floor then goes back up unintentionally. After reading manual, I adjusted the down limit but it didn't correct the problem.

You need to turn the down limit adjustment in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the motor housing cover.

My Craftsman garage door opener opens fine. It

It could be closing too far or the sensitivity could be set too sensitive.

Lube the springs, wd-40 rust may be the whole problem.

If the door hits and the opener continues to move until the rail flexes upward and then reverses - probably the travel adjustment.

Does the door close and stay closed if you hold the wall button down constant until it closes? - this would indicate a safety eye problem.

If the door reverses before it hits the floor or just as it hits the floor it could be the sensitivity or if the safety eyes are mounted to the track they could be flexing enough to move the eyes out of alignment.

Hope this helps.

Door would not close all the way

DOES IT REVERSE OR STOPS BUT NOT TOUCHING THE FLOOR?

IF IT DOESN'T TOUCH THE FLOOR YOU EITHER NEED TO ADJUST THE DOWN TRAVEL OR LENGTHEN THE CONNECTING ARM.

IF IT REVERSES YOU NEED TO DETERMINE IF IT IS THE SENSITIVITY OR THE SAFETY EYES.

GARAGE DOOR CLOSES TO THE FLOOR AND OPENS ALL THE

If the garage door is hitting the floor and reversing to the open position you need to adjust the 'down limit' which is on the side of the motor unit. Turn it in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. A little tweaking should get it just right.

Craftsman 1/2hp garage door opener does not go down to floor

I'm no expert, but on a previous door opener I had (don't know the brand), the side adjusting screw basically adjusted a limit switch, which was located inside the plastic housing (where the motor is). I was able to remove the housing, figure out which limit switch was actually being contacted "too soon" on the way down and adjusted it while watching it.

Just a suggestion, you might take a look.

just keep your hands out of the way of the chain and sprocket if you do take the housing off. .

Garage door will not close at the bottom

could be the safety "eyes" as suggested (based on the "does not go back down"), but there are also 2 adjustments on the opener. One is to tell it where the floor is, and the other is to tell it how much pressure to reverse at. I would try adjusting the "floor". Since it's hitting the floor and coming back up, that's probably your problem.

Door wont close all the way

NOT SURE WHAT UNIT YOU HAVE .
ALL OPENERS HAVE AN ADJUSTMENT TO TELL IT HOW FAR TO GO UP AND HOW FAR TO GO DOWN. LOOK ON THE SIDE OR UNDER A LIGHT COVER.IT HAS TO BE THERE SOMEWHERE
