Microwave on w/light but fan and heat not working

My microwave will count down and the light will come on but the fan and the motor will not run to heat anything. The microwave is only 3 years old. Will i have to get a new one and why didn't this one only last 3 years?

Lisa McCord I have the same problem with Frigidaire Prof Series PLMB209DCC microwave. It just stopped working one day...the light comes on but it does not spin or heat and the fan does not come on. I tried lifting up the door but that did not help. Any other suggestions?

Microwave timer works but will motor will not run/cook.

If everything works on the unit, but you do not receive any heat or possibly the turntable does not turn you have a faulty magnetron (controls heat) and a faulty motor (controls turntable). You would require service on the unit, if parts are available. Some microwaves are so small in cubic foot size, that manufacturer's do not have parts available for purchase/repairs.

Panel works put microwave does not heat

It is one three things, the magnetron, cracked high voltage diode, or the high voltage capacitor "sometimes shorts"

Microwave light turns on and vent fan runs when door is closed. It heats fine and functions work fine. It is not heating or counting down when closed, just light and fan.

Hi,
You have a shorted door switch, not a difficult repair. You will need a micro switch and knowledge of microwave repair to replace this switch.
I hope this answered your question

Microwave will not heat

Q - The microwave makes a loud "hum or buzz" noise but will not heat up the food?
A - 9 times out of 10 this is usually this is a bad magnetron, the other time is sometimes a bad high voltage diode. See components section.
Q - My microwave is running and sounds like it is working but will not heat up anything.
A - Many thing can do this but, common things are....loose high voltage wire.....poor solder joint on board.....magnetron.....power relay.....
Q - The microwave display counts down and the inside light is on,  but nothing is heating and the fan is not running.
A - This most commonly is a bad door switch, other possible problems are a faulty relay or solder joint on the power module, but a bad door switch is most common.
Q - The fan in my microwave oven is not running will this hurt my microwave?
A - YES, the fan cools the magnetron and electronics, take the microwave in for service, most fans are not too expensive to replace.
Q - My microwave blows the fuse inside itself as soon as I push the start button.
A - Usually a shorted high voltage capacitor...see components section.

Dacor dcm24s.light, fan, and control panel work but turntable and heat do not

Most likely the bottom door switch. Dacor units are built by Sharp and that switch is a very common problem. You'd either need to check the switch with an ohm meter or remove the cover of the switch to see if it's burned inside.

Nnt553w panasonic microwave. Whilst heating something he oven stopped and the display said refer to operating instructions. Now seems to be working but doesn't heat.

When you enter the time and press Start:

Does the inside light come on?

Does the turntable rotate?

Do you hear the internal cooling fan running?

Does the time count down?
