Hi, The cell inspiron you are using has a s-video port , for conneting external dispaly. If your lg TV has and s-video port , you can connect the laptop to the tv susing an s-video cable.
In case not, then you would have to buy and install an S-video to RCA cable, which cab bought from click to buy.
Sounds like you may need to check your video drivers for an update,
besides Windows itself find out what video you have Intel or Amd and
update thru their website. It can also be that your tv is running at a
resolution that your laptop might not support. However most new video
drivers allow for custom resolution settings that can be applied besides
the native ones in windows. If its a vga cable I almost can be certain
that it is not allowing the native resolution of your display.Hdmi will
automatically adjust it.Also try hooking the laptop up to a Pc monitor
and check for a display if it works on the monitor you need a custom
resolution for your tv. Also try a different input on the tv (if ones
available) and check it.
I assume you would switch the TV's source to VGA. Is that correct?
Connect it the same way you did before, with the VGA cable. Then hit Fn + F8 on your keyboard, to switch the signal from your laptop screen to the VGA cable. Then select VGA as your source on your TV as you did before.
If that does not work, please post and tell us what type of television you have.
try going into safe mode, remove the drivers reboot ,if you are able to see windows you have driver problem,if not your inverter is bad this a small board which sits under the lcd bazel.ONLY ATTEMPT THE FOLLOWING IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE OTHERWISE GET A PROFESSIONAL.If you are going to tackle this make sure the battery is removed the ac as well.now your lcd has rubber feet covering some screws remove the rubber feet you will see the screws remove the screws carefully remove the plastic bazel by prying it away with your fingers
the inverter sits below the lcd make sure both cables are snug.Usually sometimes its the conector on the right that comes loose.
Good luck
Here's what's happening... software companies like CyberLink subscribe to the Macrovision requirements for playing DVDs and protecting copyrighted materials.
Macrovision has approved numerous video cards for what they call "TV Out" which allows the movie to be displayed on your TV.
Unfortunately, your Dell Inspiron does not have a Macrovision approved and supported video card in it, so it gives instructions to the computer to disable TV Out and not allow it to play anywhere besides the computer.
