I often have the same problem - The inks being put into the printer are seated very sensitively. The lever holding them in may be also acting as a pressure sensitive switch because when I wiggle it a little, the printer usually starts working again! Make sure the cartridges are pressed STRAIGHT DOWN, wiggle them and wiggle the plastic pressure lever. (I do not know what else to call it!) and I hope yours works again. It is a great little printer, but this is really annoying! Good luck!
BTW, if your inks are RE-FILLED, that may be your problem. It seems they are made to NOT be refilled. To avoid this problem, do not wait till they are empty to refill them. Check them monthly (depends on usage) and when they get 1/2 way, refill then. Do NOT put the hypodermic refilling tube in deeper than necessary to refill. I use a heated nail to make my hole in the plastic, going ONLY in as far as necessary to make the hole, and then I cover it with scotch tape. Then I wash off my hands with Lava soap! (Haven't mastered the knack of not getting the ink on myself, yet!)

Problem with printer head or main board

Do you mean "unable to clean"?If it this follow this instruction.
Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device.You'll see on the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41 or 4F the print head is defective.If the error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and printer require service.If the error is 46 the waste ink tank is full.Follow this:Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If numberis over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.This will reset the purge count value. Then restart the printer, hopefully without the annoying cannot clean message.

I have the same problem my printer (a MFC-215C) is unable to clean and when I press Menu/set I do not have "Black print"? So what do I do now?????? HELP... Thanks Nathalie

does it say an error after "unable to print",what lights? are all inks good?, is there any bits of torn paper inside where head and carriage side up and down?

 

 

Send it back. The printhead voltage is innnnn disorder. Netxt will be Error 41 (Every Error starting with 4 means probs with printhead and in 99,9% the head has to be changed and cant be fixed!)
