Have iomega zip drive: zip100 model z100usbs have had several years and still have the CD but do I have to do something other than put the CD in the computer?
I have a similar problem. When I connect the zip drive via usb, it autoplays, shows up in the drives list, but I cannot right click on it or open it. It automatically crashes. This happens if I have a disk in it, but if it is empty is just asks me to put a disk in. I've tried multiple zip disks

If youre connecting it to XP or Vista, chances are it will detect and install automatically. The CD may not be necessary. You can try iomega's website for updated drivers if you need them.

Steve, The 1st thing is to install the correct driver for the 100 on the computer you are using. Is it a Mac or PC? What model of computer is it. I have been able to use the Zip100 disks with an older IIGS and some older Macs (Performa and Mac SE) with no problems. I have had no experience with the PCs. The disks formatted as FAT16 or FAT32 can be read by both Mac and PC. Those formatted for the PC can also be read by Macs if PC Exchange is installed. Mac disks cannot be read by a PC.
Write back with more info to clarify your exact situation.
Ron
These are pre-formatted and servoed at the factory. Awhile back I was researching the 'Click of death" fault and found a guy in Belgium or Germany that coded a repair program for bad disks. Googlee for it
sometimes when it formats, it hoses the servo information (which the drive uses to keep track of things) and the disk becomes useless. This is why I stopped using ZIP disks and won't even buy a drive when I see them for 9.99 ;-)
Well your Q. is not very clear but as per my concern it is not a problem of Window XP. You have not download the correct Driver of it. Surch for the exact Driver and install it on your computer.
