SOURCE: The screen of my Garmin

I think that you will have to make a total reset in this unit to make it functional ..but keep in mind that this will erase all data on it and you will have to reconfigure it again ..
Here is the procedure ..I left it like it was in the tutorial cause one never knows exactly how it will behave ..and they have more than one way to do that ..I suggest that the last one will work ..
In the Quick Start Manual of Garmin Nuvi 255w GPS, it stated that you can reset the unit by pressing the RESET button at its bottom. However, the RESET button is not found in my Nuvi 255w.

Additional information in the Owner's Manual stated that if RESET button is not found, slide the POWER key and hold it for more than 8 seconds will do the same, but I found out doing so will go to the touch screen calibration utility instead.

Another section in the Owner's Manual under the title "Clearing User Data" stated that holding your finger on the lower-right corner of the screen while turning on the unit and keeping the finger pressed until a message appear, that will allow you to delete all user-entered information.

I tried it and a message window pops up asking about "Do you really want to erase all user data?". There are 2 buttons to select, Yes or No. If you want to try this, make sure you've backup the data in your unit before answering to Yes.

The white screen has a "Press Dot" that you need to touch when prompted. The screen keeps displaying "Press Dots" that you need to touch until the message "Calibration Complete" appears. This process recalibrates the touchscreen so that it responds accurately to your touch commands.

4 dots on the graph screen

The function y= 3^x-4^x -1 (3 to the power of x, etc..) is a well-behaved function that should not give you any problem. It is a decreasing exponential (power function). Reset Calculator to defaults and try again. Leave Xscale at 1.

Garmin 1300 touchscreen has no response when i press the map button it does not respond, some buttons do respond but most do not, the buttons that do work send me to the incorrect application

It sounds like your nuvi would benefit from a simple screen calibration. You do this as detailed on page 47 of the manual. Since it is a very short procedure - I have transcribed it here for you.

1) Shut off the nuvi.

2) Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds until the calibration screen appears (White screen with press dot").

Simply touch the dot as it moves on the screen. You might consider using a stylus or other relatively pointed object for the most accurate results.

That's it! If this was helpful, please rate it as such. Thanks & good luck!

Comes up with press dot screen nothing I do seems

Have you tried a screen calibration? Turn off the unit then press and hold the upper left of the screen as you turn it on. A dot will show up on screen and then press the dot firmly as it moves around the screen. When it is done it will say screen calibration complete.
I also assume you tried a reset by pressing the reset button or on the newer units just hold the power button while turning it on for about 15 seconds until it reboots.

Garmin 1100lm locked in press dot game?

Your unit is in calibration mode. There should be a black dot to press on the calibration screen. Keep pressing the dot as it moves around the screen, you may need to press very firmly and use a stylus until it says calibration complete.
This usually occurs when a unit is dropped or left in extreme temperatures or jammed it a glove box or console with things jammed against the screen. It could also occur if you are touching the screen as you start.

White "press dot" screen

The actual answer is to press the dots, but use a dull plastic tool that fits "within" the dot. Otherwise the width of your finger is too imprecise to calibrate the dots and screen.

Hope you, and others, get this and try it. It works. I just discovered it and did it, successfully after only about 10 presses.

Try a screen calibration. To recalibrate your c-Series touch screen follow these steps:

1. Begin with the unit turned OFF and unplugged from a power source.
2. Power the unit ON, continue to hold the Power button for 1 minute.
3. A screen will display instructing you to Press dot in the lower left corner.
4. Release the Power button and touch the sequence of dots until your unit displays, Calibration complete.
5. Your unit should now function normally.

Black dot on my screen about the size of an unsharpened pencil's point. My camera is Olympus 790. The dot id on the pictures when printed and the screen.

The solution you can try is to run a function of the camera called Pixel Mapping to see if this removes the dot as it will redistribute the pixels of the camera on the LCD screen. To access this function - have the camera in shooting mode - go to Menu - right arrow to setup and press Ok - down arrow to pixel mapping and right arrow over to highlight start and press ok. The camera will try to repair itself. If after running this the dot is still there then you may need to send the camera to Olympus for service as the image processing chip may need to be replaced. http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp
