I have a Sharp TV model 27F-S40 and also do not have the remote. I need to access the menu to change color, sound, etc.
Can I access the menu thru the channel or volume buttons on the face of the tv?

Hello Ann, I will try to help you, well if your for sure about the Manufactur date on the T.V., then yes you will need a digital converter box, also it is suggested to have an outdoor UHF/VHF antenna with coax to attach to your converter box, the old rabbit ears aren't suggested. find another TV, VCR (many around now), or other cable using device and exchange - 7 or so screws on  back of tv come right off and expose lower interface where cable jack is.  remove wires, solder salvaged unit in and it works....  Be careful when removing back of tv -  you can pull other wires when doing so.
